Review: Exceptional quality and feel. As good as the original as it gets! - I've got an original SNES usb controller that I bought from Infinite Nes Lives for 50 bucks. The quality of that controller is flawless but the price tag was tough to swallow. I wanted a 2nd SNES pad for 2 player action but just couldn't bring myself to pay another 50 dollars so I did some research and discovered the buffalo brand has quite a following from new and old gamers alike. For the price, I couldn't say no and decided to get one. I'm happy to report that it performs flawlessly and feels great. Side by side comparisons vs the original Japan controller (as most likely noted by numerous reviewers here) are that the buffalo controller is slightly lighter, slightly thinner and vs the original famicom pad, the dpad is slightly elevated on the buffalo controller. The differences are marginal and the only REAL noticable difference to my seasoned retro gaming hands is the lighter weight of the buffalo controller. I have ordered a roll of lead tape and will weigh out a strip of that and apply it onto the inside wall of the back half of the controller shell to match the weight of the original controller. Other than that minor nit-picking there is very little to complain about. If I had to change anything, it'd be to have the turbo buttons moved further up towards the top of the game pad. It's easy to accidentally press them instead of start/select. I don't actually use them so I may end up just removing the buttons all together. I've attached numerous photos comparing the weight of the 2 game pads and thickness at various parts of the controller. Bottom line is that if you want a near 100% authentic replica of the original super famicom game pad, look no further. Yes there are minor differences but the price gap between a real one and this one is FAR beyond the point of diminishing returns in my opinion unless you're a collector, which in that case, you most likely already have one or more of the original game pads anyways.
Review: This is the only brand that makes good quality USB controllers! - It seems that Buffalo Technology is the ONLY brand that makes quality USB NES and SNES controllers. I bought one set of the Super Famicom controllers and one set of the Famicom controllers. Both are absolutely fantastic products! I should have turned to the Japanese from the start when I needed USB controllers. All the Chinese junk I bought and returned was a big disappointment and a waste of time. So enough complaining. How do these controllers compare to real SNES controllers? They compare very well. I have two lightly used SNES controllers and 4 decently used SNES controllers plus one heavily used controller. The A, B, X, Y, L,R, Start and Select buttons feel just like the buttons on my real SNES controllers ( the lightly used controllers I have). They have a click to them when you press down but its not a cheap stiff click. Its that familiar smooth click that feels just right. The D-Pad on these controllers does have a different feel compared to the real SNES controllers. First the D-Pad sits higher, second it has a longer travel and third it feels slightly tactile, but not stiff. Even with those differences it doesn't affect gameplay what so ever. I'm able to control every game I've played so far with no issues at all. The D-Pads on these Buffalo SNES and NES controllers actually work! I can't say the same about the junk USB controllers I bought before these. The Turbo Features on these controllers come in handy and do what they are supposed to do. Just pause the game ( so you don't die), hold down the turbo button and then simply press whatever button you need to have the turbo function. To clear just hold down the clear button and press the button you programmed to have the turbo function. Overall I can't recommend these controllers enough. I was actually smiling the whole time I was using my emulator. It feels good using a quality peace of hardware. I would really like for Buffalo Technology to make controllers for my NES, SNES, N64 and Sega Genesis consoles. Its getting hard to find good original controllers for the older consoles. If Buffalo Technology can make USB controllers this good, then I know they can make reproduction controllers for my old video game consoles. One more thing Buffalo tech should also consider making a USB six button Sega Genesis controller. The larger six button controller not the smaller version.

I've got an original SNES usb controller that I bought from Infinite Nes Lives for 50 bucks. The quality of that controller is flawless but the price tag was tough to swallow. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I'm BLOWN AWAY

Just a forward, I have not touched an official SNES controller in over 15 years, but when I picked this up, I got an overwhelming rush of nostalgia. This feels exactly like I remember, the button pressure, the material, the build quality all superb. The only difference I have noticed was that the Y and X buttons are not concave like they were on the original NA SNES. Not a huge deal to me, but it may throw some off. As far as I can see with images, all of the face buttons seem to be convex on the JP Super Famicom controller, and this is a Japanese product, so from what I can tell, it is accurate for that market. The install on an up-to-date (as of July 2018) Windows 10 machine was quick and easy. No additional software was needed, and Windows picked it up right away and installed the needed drivers. I was able to then map the buttons in SNES9x with no issues. I also noticed on the packaging that it is Android compatible I will try this on my Note8 (2017) and update my review (see photo). The input is 1:1 from what I can tell. I do NOT notice any delays or missed presses. So far I have tried Super Mario World, Street Fighter II Turbo, and Mega Man 2 (The Turbo was tested on Mega Man 2 with no issues). I was able to play all of them as well as I could back in the day (See: not great). The price may be a bit much for some ($15 at the time of purchase) but I feel that it is worth it if you are looking for an authentic controller experience. Overall this is a great controller, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to emulate NES/SNES games on a modern machine.
