Good Figure, After Some Preventative Maintenance
This Transformer has a long and nasty history of breaking. The problem is a couple of pegs that hold the toy together in his vehicle mode are too big to fit in the holes they belong in. If forced into the holes, they break off when you try to transform the toy back into the Robot mode. The solution to this, as mentioned by another Amazon Reviewer, is to lightly file the sides of those pegs down until they fit into the holes comfortably. Never force them. If you've filed them down and there's still resistance, file it down a bit more and try again. If you do this, this toy is a delight. Since he has the reputation of breaking, he's cheaper than other Transformers of his size, so if you're willing to file those pegs down, you can get a thoroughly enjoyable figure for relatively cheap. If you do decide to purchase Grapple, I highly suggest you read other Amazon reviews. There's a reviewer who took the initiative to post pictures of the pegs in question. Good for that guy. Go give him an updoot, or something.

Careful of the foot pegs, and he's terrific
Grapple's great, with a caveat: if you're reading these reviews, you've seen there are a couple pegs which commonly break off. Watch out for that. They're the pegs that (in vehicle mode) are at the base of the crane, plugging into the ports in what were (in robot mode) the soles of his feet. The pegs that end up behind his head in robot mode. Those pegs. They're a little too large for the ports they plug into, and if you're not careful they get stuck and snap off. It's a design flaw. Carefully shave down the hollow side (search "transformers earthrise grapple fix" for video help) and be cautious with that part of the transformation. That said, if this figure didn't have that issue, it might not be $22, and $22 for a medium-size ("Voyager Class") Transformers toy is a pretty great deal these days. Grapple's a great toy for the size at the price. Transformation is straightforward, classic, and intuitive--on the simple side, but with enough foldy-clicky bits to still be fun. He has articulation in nearly all the right places, save a neck tilt or wrist swivel--but his hands flip back into blasters/5mm ports, which is a fair trade-off. Grapple incudes three accessories: one typical handheld blaster, and two parts more suited to replacing a hand (a nozzle/missile/silver thing, and a four-pronged claw). The claw is meant to plug into the 5mm port at the tip of his crane arm in vehicle mode, where it can use the "A.I.R.-Lock" clip in the center to connect to certain other Earthrise-series figures (crane trucks are great vehicle modes like that). All three accessories can attach sensibly in vehicle mode, which you can't say for every Transformer; the silver nozzle even has a dedicated space on the side of the crane arm, which is a nice touch. He's loaded with 5mm ports in both modes (I count 13 in robot form) so he's perfect to accessorize with Weaponizers or Fossilizers or whatnot. Only real downsides are the peg issue and, y'know, he's very orange. Personally, I think that's a feature. In-hand, he's a wonderful warm creamsicle color, a little less eye-searing than the safety orange he seems in some photos but deeper than the pale overcooked-carrot orange he seems in others. Do you like Transformers? Do you like bright orange things? Are you fine with a little sanding to make a discount worthwhile? I'm yes to all three, so I'm glad I finally got a Grapple. If you're "no" on two or three, I hear the Kingdom-series retool of this mold as Inferno (fire truck) fixes the peg issue.

Great looking version of Grapple
Love this mold. It is similar to the Masterpiece version but smaller. I like that it looks less chunkier than that version too. This figure has excellent proportions, and in my opinion, looks better than the MP version. The plastic feels solid and durable too. There are very few gaps and the ones he has are not very noticeable. All his kibble has a place to go in robot mode and it all looks great in that mode. It is adequate to his robot mode. Transformers almost always have kibble...it's the way that it is moved around that makes or breaks a figure. Hasbro did an amazing job with this guy. He even has good ankle tilts for high pose ability. His color scheme is cool. Yellow-orange looks great on this guy. Transformation is fun and fluid with some interesting bends and arm placements. The robot head, feet, arms, and vehicle crane are all neat parts of the transformation. He comes with three cool accessories. His gun looks nice but the interesting ones are the claw and the nozzle. You can turn his hands into his arms and place either accessory over them. They look amazing. The hook on the crane stays there but looks cool as well. Earthrise Grapple is definitely worth picking up.

Grapple is a really nice value figure
Grapple is a really nice value figure. Good articulation, nice build quality, color seems accurate, and tradeable hand accessories make fun play time.

Underrated guy
Earthrise Grapple is sadly the more slept on character when it comes to this mold which is a shame since he feels like a miniature masterpiece in hand, the transformation is buttery smooth & perfect. Not to mention seeing as he is less well known I got him for $20 which is a steal for a voyager class. He looks great height wise next to his pal Hoist

Amazing and very good, although it was delivered two weeks after purchase.
This is a good Grapple toy for any Transformers fans, you should buy it and collect it if you’re a Transformers toy collector. Although, I’ve read the reviews that people have been breaking the pegs that connect to the soles in vehicle mode, I managed to sand the pegs to the point where they could easily peg in and out without breaking. The worst part about this purchase is that this figure was supposed to be delivered between Dec 1-4 but something happened and it was delivered on Dec 8th, but I’ll still be giving this toy a 5 star review. Attention Buyers: if you're willing to buy this Grapple toy then you should read the reviews before purchasing this figure.

The new Earthrise Line Transformers look fantastic, especially Autobot Architect Grapple who artistic techniques were used in Transformers second wave in 1985. Grapple (along with his friend the optimistic and jovial mechanic ‘Hoist’) came out in Transformers G1 cartoon second season with a power English accent (in which I hope they incorporate in the Second Season of Transformers War For Cybertron: Earthrise). Grapple was an artist and architect, and designed a lot of the Autobot defensive systems within the Autobot HQ “The Ark”. As with a lot of artists and architects, he suffers from depression when things get destroyed by the Decepticons. But Hoist was always there to cheer Grapple up. I never had Grapple, but getting this as a collectible is a complete joy for me. So please get the Siege, Earthrise and Kingdom’s G1 Autobots Warpath, Huffer and Inferno as they look 100% times better than other lines and generations, and if you are worried about the breakage issues simply do not transform him and keep him robot mode (I prefer Grapple in that mode). I would like Amazon UK to start distributing all 1980s G1 Transformers Masterpieces as they did with MP17+ Prowl in which Amazon’s sub-company ‘The Online Marketplace U.K’ started to do, and I thought that this distributor was going to expand into other 1980s G1 Transformers Masterpieces after I got him, such as starting to distribute both official Takara Tomy\Hasbro and third party Transformers Masterpieces especially FansToys, XTransbots, Transform Element, Magic Squares and Mastermind Creations/Ocular-Max along with Autobot and Decepticon factions Toyhex Repro labels included within the boxes of all the Third Party Transformers Masterpieces. I would love to see all British 1980s G1 Transformers fans to do a Facebook, Twitter and Instagram campaign for Amazon UK to expand their Transformers Masterpiece range both official and Third Party. I am absolutely glad that Takara Tomy/Hasbro are redesigning the Decepticon Seekers starting with the legendary, evil and back stabbing 2nd in command ‘Airspace Commander’ MP52 Starscream, along with MP52+ Thundercracker, and I am keeping my fingers crossed for MP52+ Skywarp. I hope Amazon one day starts getting third party Transformers in, this will broaden the market for fans who can’t get either Jazz, Mirage, Trailbreaker, Hoist, and many more of the Transformers that both Hasbro\Takara Tomy are unable to get through various vehicle licensing laws. As I mentioned in previous Amazon Transformers reviews, I would love to both the third party Transformers companies such as FansToys, Transform Element, Magic Squares, Mastermind Creations/Ocural-Max and Xtransbots go into partnership with Hasbro/Takara Tony one day to bring out either version of Jazz, Mirage, Trailbreaker, Hoist, Astrotrain (my favourite triple changer), and my favourite Autobot subgroup “The Dinobots” (Grimlock (either the FansToys, the Hasbro or Takara Tomy versions), FansToys masterpiece versions of Slug (original called ‘Slag’ in 1985, but it had to change his name due to PC issues), Sludge, Snarl and Swoop) many more with the third companies keeping the design specs and Takara Tony/Hasbro adding the Autobot and Decepticon insignia on every character. I love it if Amazon start selling third party G1 Masterpiece Transformers starting with my favourite 1986 Special Team Combiner - ‘The Stunticons’ (my favourite Decepticon Subgroup) - The annoying victory obsessed narcissist ‘Drag Strip’, The pessimistic doom merchant ‘Dead End’, the Paranoid and Anxiety ridden ‘Breakdown’ , the insane and out of control wildcard ‘Wildrider’ and their leader, the cold hearted, bullying tyrant and failed and humiliated “KING OF THE ROAD!!!!” ‘Motormaster’ and their combined giant robot form of schizophrenic and slow minded “Menasor” by both Xtransbots and FansToys versions of their Transformers ‘Stunticons’ Masterpieces (along with Decepticon’s insignia retro labels with the their Transformers third party names along with their actual Hasbro\Takara Tomy trademark names as well) as it’s the 35 anniversary of Transformers: The Movie, and also this ‘Special Team’ combiner coming out. I hope Amazon does this one day and bring out these wonderful masterpieces (either Hasbro, Takara Tomy and Third Party) for all 1980s G1 Transformers Fans for all adult collectors.

I like this guy a lot, got him on sale. Has some issues with pegs in alt form breaking from being too big, be careful and shave them down.
