can battery be replaced?

There are no provisions for replacing the internal battery within the sealed case. The manual states that "If Secure Key isn’t frequently used, plug device into a powered USB port for 90 minutes every 90 days to maintain optimum battery performance." I have had good experiences with my device and there have been no battery-related issues.

Does this support a self-destruct pin?

By default, the Self-Destruct feature is disabled. To allow the Secure Key to be set with a Self-Destruct PIN, Enter the Admin mode. Answer is yes.

how is the usb personal security device used with online banking

The Secure Key is a thumb-drive that has internal security features. However, it's still functions like any thumb-drive. You can save things from your device onto the Secure Key or you can copy something from your Secure Key and save it, or sent it someplace else. I don't imagine the your information would be secure while it's being transferred. I hope this helps.

Will the device experience data loss if the battery is fully discharged for a long period of time?

It does not under normal circumstances. It charges its battery when you plug it into live USB, but the memory itself is non-volatile and doesn't need battery to keep its data.
