Takara Tomy Tomica No.108 Hino Aerial Ladder Fire Truck

My son loves it. Solid build. I see why they are collectible.

My 3-year-old son loves cars. Period. And I've been a fan of Tomica ever since I stumbled across them on Ebay months ago because they are durable diecast Matchbox sized cars, and most of them have an interactive feature of some kind. As with almost all of the Tomica vehicles sold on Amazon, this shipped from Japan, so it will take a while to arrive, but when it came, it was well packaged in a pouch envelope, wrapped in bubble wrap in its original box with no damage. Like I said, it's about the size of my son's biggest Matchbox car, and like many of the other Tomica vehicles, it has a working part--the ladder. The ladder is huge! I expected it to raise just one length, but it is a real working telescoping ladder that extends three full lengths. To be frank, it's awesome. It also spins around 360 degrees, but unfortunately, this is why I docked a star. You should not rotate it using the ladder but rotate it from the red base; otherwise, the ladder can--and most likely will-snap off. Luckily, it snaps back on to the rotating base rather easily, but it's a bit of a nuisance when you have a 3-year-old desperate to go on adventures with his fire truck. That being said, this is one of my son's favorite cars, and he has over a 100 between a handful Tomica's and Matchbox and Hot Wheels. Overall, I will continue to buy from Tomica because even though it's a higher price and an import, their products a high quality, durable, and way more interactive that the popular US brands.

Happy with the product. But ladder is very delicate. Not very good for a 4 year old.

As many other tomica cars, this is made of solid metal and so, it feels heavier and strong, compared to hotwheel or matchbox cars. The only complaint that I have is that the ladder comes off easily. It might just be structurally inevitable, considering how it is attached the body of the car but still... The bright side is that the ladder itself is made of high-quality plastic so that it is probably not going to get broken by my son. I just hope that the connector between the ladder and the boy will stay strong. During the first few months after receiving this fire truck, it was thrown into the toilet bowel, dishwasher and washed excessively with soap but the paint has not faded away! It still have the bright red color on it.
