Great value
I read a load of reviews on these before settling for this one. Most other seem to suffer from the trays not being very robust or dish washer safe. They all seem very much the same other than that. Considering most of my kitchen gadgets last a month before retiring to the back of the cupboard I didn't want to spend a fortune. Anyway I've been pretty impressed with this, it does what it's meant to and was a good price. We've used it for fruit, mushrooms and biltong and it's done really well. The design is basicz the trays seem pretty strong. The lack of a timers is not really an issue if you pair it with a smart plug. And after a month we're still using it so overall a win.

Chilli drier
Purchased for a single function - dehydrating the annual chilli crop prior to chopping into flakes. Cheap, cheerful and perfectly up to the task. Particularly like that the shelf spacing is adjustable (by spinning through 180 degrees). The plastic grating is quite coarse so items as small ad chillies can drop through. Solved this issue by purchasing some fine metal grating and snipping to shape - problem solved. When dehydrating chillies, found that it’s better to drop the temperature to about half way and dry them for longer. Max temp, although only about 70 deg, dries them quite quickly (12 hours-ish) but is warm enough to scorch them a bit if you leave them too long. Also a good idea to check regularly and remove them as they dry out. Recommended.

A superb entry level dehydrator.
I put this into service with some apples, and it did a fantastic job with them. I haven't really tried anything else yet, but potatoes and tomatoes also both dehydrated well, except for my learning curve of never having used a dehydrator before. I let that first batch go on for a little (reader, it was a lot) too long, and the food got a little too crispy. I can confirm it is possible to burn food even in a dehydrator! However, that batch also allowed me to test how easy it was to clean, and it was a breeze. I soaked the trays for a short while, and it soon scrubbed off. The temperature control is great, it just allows you to tweak things for a better result. Especially if you swap the trays top to bottom halfway through to get an even heat on all the food. Like all the dehydrators I have seen people use online, the bottom half tends to be a tad warmer than the top half. Perfectly understandable given the motor is situated in the base. I was able to dehydrate three to four apples at a time, which may not seem a lot, but this is only a small unit, so it's actually more than I expected. I have a tiny kitchen, and this fits on the side nicely. A relief because it means I'm not constantly pulling it in and out of a storage space. There is only one issue I had, like others have mentioned, the box it comes in doesn't protect it well in the post, and one tray has a couple of cracks in it, which make me uneasy about using all five trays at once, but I wasn't going to waste time getting a replacement when I really needed it there and then. If they sort out better packaging, then this produce would likely improve its rating considerably.

Plastic trays are fragile to say the least
Plastic tray broke after first use. Not even 24 hours old. Worked well on low temperature. Dried fruit well.
