Simple but effective
Was super easy to assemble and for such a small upgrade the increase in confort is significant. Plus if you donr like it for any reason the process is reversible. Good quality and it has held up well.

Keeps stray light out.
Fits like a glove. Very little stray light enters when you place your eye against it. It comes with screws and a screw driver to install it. The screws in the standard eyecup were very hard to unscrew and I had to apply a lot of pressure to remove them. Once it was installed the eyecup needed to be folded up so that the screen could be closed upon opening the screen it moves out of the way easily.

Great extended eye cup - pro looking - but there are some caveats to be aware of...
Firstly, I really like this professional looking extended eye cup. In fact, I ordered two of them - for my Canon RP and R8 cameras. Now let's discuss what you should be aware of: 1. The stock flatter eyecups attached to the cameras are very tightly fastened in place, and the very little Phillips head screwdriver that the manufacturer provides you with this extended eyecup, is kind of worthless. Why? Because the screwdriver is so small that you cannot get any force applied to the ultra tiny screws used to hold the eyecup in place. In addition, the 2 screws are so unbelievably small that you will require tweezers to pick them up and place back in their respective holes. You virtually cannot do it by hand alone - they are that small. And don't use magnetic tweezers or screwdrivers because that will make your job even harder, as these little screws will adhere to them. I can't believe all the curse words I was using while trying to use this magnetic based tools. 2. What you need to do, is to get a larger (yet still small head) Phillips screwdriver to get the job done. With a larger handle Phillips model (but still with the very, very small head portion), getting those tightly fastened screw out (and back in) becomes, much, much easier. 3. Now, store the stock flat eyecups somewhere where it can be found again (in case you want to put them back on again - and it could happen). 4. As I mentioned, the extended eye cups look great, and look much better than the ad photos on Amazon. However, if you wear glasses, they will put you further away from the viewfinder, so you'll be squinting harder to see the entire frame. When all is said and done, this is a splendid camera eye cup extender - but do keep in mind what I just mentioned in this review, and users who wear eyeglasses (like I do), your view into the viewfinder has now been pushed further back, making it a bit more difficult to watch the entire frame.

Effectively blocks unwanted light from the viewfinder.
Great replacement for the stock eyecup. Stays collapsed and out of the way for normal daily use. But when sunlight is coming in from either side, it quickly expands to shield unwanted light from the viewfinder. Easy install.

Practical upgraded eyecup replacement
Not a must have item but it's a nice replacement to the one that came with the camera. My camera a Cannon Rebel EOS T6i, its fitted perfectly. Replacement was a breeze easy, just pulled the old part up and replaced. Inexpensive also and seems to be useful, it doesn't interfere with the opening or closing on the viewer door. Good material, recommend.

It will replace your damaged eye-cup
This product will replace your damaged R7 eye-cup but in my experience it’s not much better than the flawed original. If you’re reading this you’ve probably noticed that Canon decided to use a very soft rubber for the R7 eye-cup and unfortunately this soft rubber is very easy to damage, especially since the eyepiece protrudes so far past the back of the camera. This design means that the rubber eye-cup is subjected to lots of rubbing against things when in use. I typically use my R7 with a long telephoto lens like the RF 100-500L or RF 200-800mm. When I’m driving around I like to place the camera on the passenger seat of my car. With other cameras the eye-cup was made of harder rubber and didn’t protrude so far behind the camera and this type of use never resulted in damage. It only took about a month for me to shred the original eye-cup so I replaced it with this product. The kiwifotos eye-cup is made out of rubber that’s almost as soft as the original and it sticks out even more than the original. It took about a month before I managed to destroy the kiwifotos replacement cup. This time the problem happened when I was walking in the woods with my camera rig attached to a Blackeapid camera strap. I brushed against a bush and the long rubber eye-cup got caught on the vegetation and ripped the entire eye-cup off the back of the camera. I also found that the kiwifotos eye-cup was difficult to use with glasses as the eye-relief on the R7 isn’t that long so it was challenging to get my eye close enough to the viewfinder to see well with my glasses on. I searched around for another alternative but this seems to be the only game in town so I ordered a second one. This time when I received it, I used a razor to cut away all the excess rubber. So far it’s held up but it’s only been a couple of weeks. I’d say the build quality of this product is on the flimsy side, but that ended up helping me because when it got caught on the vegetation the eye-cup was destroyed and not my camera. I was pleased that installation was easy and the kit included the proper screw driver and replacement screws. If only they would make a similar product with harder rubber and much shorter in length for us eye-glasses wearers.
