Pretty simple to install, very simple to open at the campsite. We are a couple of retirees and can have this set up fully in 5-10 minutes including staking out guy lines. I would definitely recommend two people for setting up and rolling up. Provides plenty of shelter for cooking & eating. We purchased the sidewalls to go with the awning which create a private area if the situation calls for it. We've used the awning on several trips now and it kept us dry. We had a torrential downpour (3" overnight) in Wisconsin last fall and water pooled on the tarp bending one of the extension poles but the system held up! If we ever expect that much rain in the future we will add a vertical support pole in the center. We contacted Danchel about the bent pole and they had a replacement shipped to us. Super easy to work with!

This is the third rig that I have installed the Danchel awning on. The first one impressed me so I put one on my Palomino slide in truck camper. It survived a pretty strong pop up storm in southern Kentucky a few years back so when I set up my current rig I bought the biggest one Danchel makes (as far as I know). Its a 9 1/2 X 9 1/2 with four walls. We are heading out next week and expect nothing but the best out of this awning. We scaled the camper back to a roof top tent for better MPGs and so we could do a little overlanding.

I’ll be honest. This purchase was a gamble. I half expected to return it right out of the box. It came with some damage on the inside of the aluminum frame and the legs seemed kind of flimsy too. But I was going camping in what is usually a pretty windy spot and figured I’d give the people an honest review! Setting this thing up and breaking it down in windy conditions was not my favorite thing to do. You might be able to come up with a easier process after some experimenting, but we were on the struggle bus with 3 people. The thing was just flying out of control! When we did manage to get it set up, it was solid! It was 20mph consistent wind with 35 mph gusts and this awning held strong. As you can see from my photo, I used tent weights on the poles and tied the guy lines to some rocks, but you definitely could get away without any of that if there is no wind. The canopy material feels like decent quality. The joints for the supports and legs are strong and sturdy. The only iffy thing for me was the extension locks. They did not feel like they will last through a bunch of use. Time will tell there. The only other thing that bothers me about this is the huge cheap looking logo on the weatherproof bag. I wish there was an option to choose one without. Overall, I’m really impressed with this awning. I definitely recommend it if you’re looking to save a few bucks. I’ll be keeping it on the truck and report back if it doesn’t hold up like it’s supposed to!

So the product arrived without all the hardware shown on the directions. But I did get the necessary bolts and nuts for my specific installation. It bolted up easily and the heads didn’t turn as was mentioned in other reviews. I was very pleased with the installation. Going to pull it out tomorrow and try it out with the side curtains I ordered. But looks to be identical to the ARB one I have on the other side of the trailer minus the light. Arrived early as well.

Ok so I have to say I am quite impressed by this awning. I was a little weary due to the cheap price. The quality of the tarp is great! I have used it in wind and rain with no issues. It was a quick and easy install and mounted right to the side of my cargo basket. The only issue I have with it is the twist locks on the legs. No matter how much I twist them they never seem to lock. This may be operator error but either way it will not be an issue as it will surely be an easy fix. All in all I would highly recommend this awning and would definitely purchase one again in the future! Great customer service. Contacted quickly and was quick to offer help with the leg locks.

I really wanted to love this awning. I was a huge fan when it first arrived. It installed so easily and it was simple to set up. We got about 4 good uses out of it on our camping trips and was super useful in sunny weather. It didn't last a year though. One of the main reason we got it was to have a place to hide under when it rained. We got caught in a rain storm one-night camping in Virginia and one of the poles snapped in two. It's reasonably priced compared to other retractable awnings. I just wish it was more durable! UPDATE: got in touch with customer service and they responded immediately. Sending a replacement because I’m under the one year warranty. Excellent customer care. Highly recommend.

I just installed this on my roof rack and it looks very good and seems like a good quality product, it has a nice design and is easy to pull out and have a nice shade in less than 5 minutes time. I haven't used it and I'll have to do a follow up review 6 months from now when its been exposed to the elements. But initially it looks like its going to work. Follow up: The sun shade is very useful it opens up quickly and the tarp material is waterproof, but there is a design flaw, and after a month of use I can see it already failing, the horizontal poles that extend from the main rail or carrying bag have a peg at the end that connects to the frame that holds the legs and inserts into a small hole to keep it in place. These pages are already loose and are only crimped to the aluminum tube by small indentations. This should be of better construction if it is to last a long camping trip or a long road trip because of this I have taken two stars, now I will have to figure out he to fasten these before they break off forget lost.

This is a nice awning. My wife wanted more shade while camping. That said, getting it mounted on our Honda Odyssey was a trick. If your rails are square or rectangle you're probably fine. The Odyssey rails are narrower at the top, wider front to back and the clearance is greater at the rear than the front. I had to make a couple of plates to make it all work but in the end it was fine. The company has some videos that are helpful.

Love this awning easy to install add no issues. Only issue was with shipping fees with ups. Yet still came in alot earlier then predicted date. Used it once up till now only been couple weeks since install and happy with it. My only concern. It is not of a canvas material but more of tent style material which helps keep the weight down. By so i will treat it with a product in the spring to help it last as long as possible. I got the 5x6.5 Only took me a min to pop it up open. Will be adding more pics soon.

Algunas partes de los rieles llegaron dobladas y me tocó enderezarlas con pinzas sin embargo se ve algo débil el aluminio y las patas, en realidad se recibe lo que se paga y está bien. Hay que tener cuidado en zonas de mucho viento como suele ser la playa para evitar que terminé volando y dañándose Recomiendo comprar también los laterales para mayor sombra.

Love this thing it was way cheaper than a fiamma and it works awesome.
