super convenient storage and nice modern look
This Kohler lighted medicine chest replaces the standard mirror + vanity light + medicine chest set.It is really convenient to see my lotions, serums and other products at eye level instead of tucked into low cabinets. The shelves are deep enough for medium sized jars but not so deep that things get lost and buried behind each other. The wall is weight-bearing so I mounted it on the surface. The mirror kit for the sides works well. The lights are on a dimmer switch. Along with a couple of recessed canned lights nearby, there is a good level of lighting for application of make-up.I used a 40" wide Verdera on the wider "her" side vanity and the 32" version for the shorter "his" side.I like that it's different than the traditional boring mirror and vanity light set-up I've seen all of my life.

Great look & functionality
When remodeling our master bathroom we were originally looking at Robern (another brand) recessed medicine cabinets. They were SO expensive. My designer had never used the Kohler recessed cabinets but we decided to go for it because they were so much more reasonably priced and were aesthetically pleasing. (NOTE: Still expensive, but not crazy). They were a little tricky to install (according to my contractor). However, they look great, provide tons of room, very functional. Would definitely buy again. Highly recommend. Attached are photos with doors open and doors closed (note that we had our cabinet contractor add a thin wood frame around the mirrors to match the cabinets).

I really loved this mirror, until it started rusting along the bottom....
Within a year of installing this mirror, the bottom edges of the front reflective surface has started to rust, which has only gotten worse with time and now extends into the interior mirror areas. I spoke with Kohler customer service rep, who said that it was from using glass cleaner on it, which is what my housekeeper uses, and I would think most anyone uses to clean mirrors. She told me I was only supposed to be using a special cleaner than Kohler sells, and that they won't warranty the mirror if any other cleaning product is used. This was the most expensive mirror I considered when shopping, and thinking that the Kohler brand meant that it was a quality product. The reality is that this is not a quality product, nor will Kohler stand behind it in any way whatsoever. The solution they offered was replace the affected doors, at a cost of almost a brand new mirror. I've lived with it for now, only because replacing it means reworking a wall of porcelain tile at a cost of several thousand dollars. This is extremely disappointing and I could not recommend this mirror or any Kohler product based on my experience. If someone from Kohler would care to contact me I'd love to hear your justification for your product failing in such a way, and your lack of response to the issue.

Great at the Discounted Price That I Paid. Not So Much for MSRP
I had several requirements:1. No bezel on the mirror2. Rectangular3. Mirror on the inside.4. Single door that swing left or right. That is, no splits down the middle.5. Soft-close6. Ease of installation. Can be installed by myself. My pre-purchase research narrowed it down to just one option. Unfortunately, the price was not right at or near MSRP. So I waited and bought the model without the built-in soft close from Amazon warehouse, saving me over 60%.Then I installed "Blum BLUMOTION 971A for Compact Hinges" and it works as well as the built-in soft-close (I tried it in a Kohler flagship store.) This does require a 90 degree angle drill bit attachment. BTW, the Kohler website does offer the soft-close hinges as "spare parts" but at over $50 and it necessitate removing the existing hinges. (Don't, since the hinges were set using self-tapping screws and installing new ones will mess with the ability to hold onto the heavy mirrored doors)As for the installation, Verdera is the only one where you can HANG the mirror after the mounting a metal ledge on the wall. It will stay there, setting your hands free to set the remaining screws so that it can't be lifted off.All other mirrors, that I have seen, require you to REST the mirror ON the ledge near the bottom. With your shoulder against the mirror or with someone else helping, you then set the rest of the screws so that it doesn't tip forward.

Circular Saw Required
As long as you have or can borrow a circular saw and a nail cutter/file this installation is easy. I was confused when I first put this item in my cart because it offered an assembly service for $165. When the service contacted me I asked for clarification - is this charge for the assembly AND installation? They said no just assembly. But they could install it for an additional charge. I decided to try everything myself and I’m a woman (engineer). Well the item did arrive in a huge box (several weeks late) like another reviewer commented, but it came assembled! In my case I was replacing my previous medicine cabinet that had the same width dimension but was about 8” shorter in height. The circular saw was for elongating the the recessed dimensions. And I came across a nail that I had to file off. There are 2 sets of directions but beware, only in tiny font in the corner do they distinguish between “surface” mounted and “recessed” mounting. It was really simple requiring only 4 screws. There was no need for caulking or a filler like another reviewer said and that’s why I included the second photo to prove it. Anyway I love th extra space and there is no problem with the magnifying mirror staying in place like another reviewer commented. I’m going to order another one for my other bathroom!
