Easy to install and quality
Have had a motor lock in the past, but some bad guys pried it off. The lock did it's job, but thankfully the motor was also bolted to the hull.

Works good, hard to get off without key.
not as easy to install as a single pad lock, but it is virtually impossible to get bolt cutters to the lock. The only to defeat the lock is to cut the motor clamps themselves... not something most thieves would do.

Good value for the money; stands up to non-saltwater conditions
[NOTE - I do not use my boat or outboard in saltwater conditions] This lock appears to be very sturdy. It's not going to stop a motivated thief from stealing your motor but it's definitely going to be a heck of a racket when they try to remove it! Heavy steel construction; the lock itself also looks sturdy and is protected by the steel bar from tampering. The lock tumblers also look pretty legit. One problem I may have with it - at trolling speeds, the lock vibrates a lot. You get used to it but it might irritate some buyers after a while. I don't troll that much and a piece of paper between the lock and bar takes care of the noise, so not a problem for me. Bottom line - it's a good-priced product that will definitely keep the honest people honest.

Also adds a 2nd nice handle to carry the engine
Product showed up on time and boxed well. Bought it for my 9.8 Tohatsu for use in fresh water. The bar itself is substantial and a heavy gauge metal that seems vinyl coated. Contrary to other opinions, a thief would need a cutting tool to get this off; it does not flex. Also adds a 2nd nice handle to carry the engine. The lock itself is brass with a top U shaped shackle that has connection notches in both legs; the bottom has the key hole; the lock installs with the key hole down; The shackle and lock both recess into the bar making it difficult to tamper with. Used some Breakfree gun oil to lub the lock and that made it work smoothly. The shackle only goes in one way as one of the legs is longer than the other; probably making it easier to line up the lock with the shackle. Without the dampening strips (3), the bar fits easily on the turnbuckles. Without the dampening strips, the bar could rattle. Adding the 3 adhesive backed dampening strips takes a bit to get them into the bar but makes the fit snug decreasing rattle. The plastic end caps are a nice finishing touch. I pity the fool who tries to make a quick grab. For the dough, Happy Camper.

New finish and feel
I like this I put it on my 15 Hp motor if nothing else it will take some time to remove it, more time to catch some one trying to steal my motor. Any out board motor should have a lock on it.

Stay away
I had no problem installing, the only problem with the lock is that it stays locked due to it rusting closed. NOTE: it took me less than a minute to bend it enough and cut the unit off. I would not recommend it or buy another one.

Locked and secure
This motor lock was easy to install and completely secured the boat motor. The quality was excellent and the instructions were easy to understand.

Good news... it works!
Somebody tried to steal my kicker motor (9.9 Yamaha). Thankfully, I had this lock on it. They managed to cut one side of the lock, but couldn't get to the other side. They also tried to pry the bracket apart, and they managed to pry it a little ways, but not enough to get to the other side of the lock to cut it completely off. I've just now purchased another since it did its job well. I hope to not have to buy another, but I'm comforted by the fact that thieves won't be able to break it.

Unfortunately it does not fit minnkota electric motor mounting handles. It looks well made and designed, like the recessed lock and foam for damping vibration. But it does NOT fit minnkota mounting handles.
