First Impressions & Build Quality Upon unboxing a DeWalt bit set, the immediate impression is one of robust, professional-grade quality. The bits are typically housed in a durable, often clear-lidded case that allows for quick identification of contents, which is a small but significant detail when you're in the middle of a job. The case itself is usually designed to withstand drops and abuses common on a job site, featuring reinforced hinges and secure latches. The bits themselves feel substantial. Made from hardened steel, they exhibit a notable heft and a precise finish. DeWalt commonly uses a black oxide coating, which not only gives them a sleek look but also provides corrosion resistance, extending their lifespan, especially in damp environments. I love these! My old set was missing several bits so it’s nice to have a full set. I also purchased the drill bits and was pleased to find out the two cases stack together. Looks like they have everything I need for projects around the home.

All three sets arrived safely and together even though the heavy paper bag wasn't sealed, at all! Kudos to all the Amazon employees who took care in the handling. I had to repair my mailbox post and base with spax T25 screws. All of the masterforce bits disintegrated before the first screw was set. When these arrived, one T25 bit finished the task for the remaining 7 screws. A very good investment.

I am replacing some stolen items and my original purchase, Bauer, from Harbor Freight is no longer available, so thought I'd try something new. I bought the DeWalt Drill set, which was fine, and then decided to by the matching DeWalt Bit set... The tool cases are hard see-through plastic (for no real reason and poorly designed for many other reasons) and if you drop it or drop something on it, it's going to shatter. The latches protrude above the top cover to allow for stacking (they do stack nice) but if they get pushed around in a tool bag or case, something could catch the latch and the case could open up and the lid could be broken off... not going to try it to find out. The sockets that hold the bits are very tight and the rows do not rotate up for easy extraction. I do not have FAT heavily callused fingers and it's even difficult for me to remove and reset the bits. you can move the bit rows around and they could have even added 1 or 2 extra rows for personal bit selection. I was also rather disappointed in their bit selection as it was rather limited and may be a "standard" contractor type use, in that it had 14 P2 Philips (What are you guys do?... lol...) and 6 SO2 Square tip... and several duplicates of other... I went into my parts boxes and dug out a wider range of bits to give me a full set. As I'm not a working contractor "out on some work site" I don't have to worry about breaking a bit and not having 13 back-ups... I just go to my parts drawer when I need one. Not that it's a specific issue, but when fully loaded, both the drill and the bit box weigh over 1.2lbs... don't drop them on a hard surface... especially if you have 2 or more stacked together... but they do stack nicely, which is about the only good think I found, other than that the bits and drills do appear to be decent quality, but I would have expected that.
