Outstanding helmet at a CRAZY $ discount!
This is my second Scorpion EXO AT-950…after 2 Shoei Neotecs (Street) and a LS2 (Dirt).I will NEVER go back to a non modular helmet. The Scorpion combines a massive view area with reasonable weight and the convenience of eating, talking, or drinking something without removing your helmet. My sunglasses slip on easier with the helmet face portion up too. This helmet compares with $1000+ models by BMW and Schubert, for much less$$ and the comm isn’t proprietary. At $300, Scorpions have always been a good value. They never seem to go on sale though. When they ARE discounted, they are usually an XS or a M. I have a larger head. When I found this model, color , and even available in the my size!!! At 1/3 the price on Amazon…I bought immediately. (BTW…Great vendor…arrived in perfect condition and very safely double boxed.).My last Scorpion was an XL…this is a XXL…but I can’t tell the difference at all. It is brand new, so the pads are snug, but those break in. I’m in California, so I removed the double shield and installed the silver tinted single-layer style from my old Scorpion helmet. I also replaced the helmet buckle with a Ryde Wear quick release unit (sold here on Amazon)I had a Sena 20S in my last helmet with a boom mike. I use it for music, audiobooks, podcasts, and necessary phone calls only. I don’t really use the intercom function as I don’t want to “chat” while I’m enjoying the solitude of a motorcycle ride. I’d rather talk later over a coffee, cold beer, etc. I’ve been riding for 45 years and I understand that not everyone shares this opinion. To each his own. Enjoy your bike your way …thats what makes riding so special.I will install a Cardo this time with the JBL speakers. Sena used Harmon Kardon’s and they were fine but I think new tech vastly improves every a few years. The helmet has speaker cutouts and installation was easy. The helmet fits well and ventilates well for a full face helmet in California…I ride 342 days a year. Nothing is wonderful when it’s 100 degrees🤷🏽♂️…when it’s cold, or windy, or more mild, it’s very comfortable…I usually ride with the shield up and ANSI rated glasses. The controls for the visor, internal sun visor, and vents are easy to use with gloves as well as intuitive. Wind noise isn’t bad, vents are ok, I like that you can replace the interior liner, shields, etc. Lots of customizable options to make the helmet perfect for you. Weight is fine for me. Quality is great from Scorpion. It is by FAR my favorite helmet. The Shoei was $650 and heavy! I also felt more confined with its smaller view window. I prefer the Scorpion. So…quality, fit, cool styles, convenience, great visibility, customizable options, fantastic price point from a quality vendor with Amazon’s return policy.Really…what’s to decide????Enjoy your ride!RS

Amazing helmet that needs breaking-in period
Just opened it and took it for a spin!! Here's a few quick notes, followed by details.1 - the reviews about the cheek pads are accurate. They're very tight.2 - very quiet helmet3 - the peak is great for low speeds, not so great for high speeds.4 - the drop down visor is great for tint, not so much at wind protection.5 - interior wind channels are amazing at keeping your dome cool.6 - modular switch is a pull lever instead of a push button.7 - vent and visor interfaces are smooth and intuitive.8 - all around great helmet for the price. Would definitely recommend.Details:The first thing I noticed when I put the helmet on was how tight the cheek pads were. After an hour long ride, my cheeks/jaw were a bit sore from how tight they were. However, all helmets need some form of break in period. Once I wear the helmet more, I imagine the helmet will conform to my features and become more comfortable with use.The helmet is much, much quieter than my last helmet. There's a slight whistle from the passage of air through the channels, but my bluetooth system is easy to hear even at..... over highway speeds.I had planned on removing the peak anyway, but wanted to see how it would feel. At low speeds, it channels tons of air into the top vent and keeps your head very stable. Once you get past 45mph, it starts catching the wind and whipping your head around. If you ride with a passenger, they will have an industrial blower on their helmet. The peak funnels air across the top vent and straight backwards. My passenger said they had a hard time keeping their head steady from the funneled air. With the peak removed, there was still plenty of airflow through the top vent at highway speeds, just a little less at low speeds. In addition, if you ride with the visor open or removed, the peak will cause extra gusts to curl in the sides and behind the drop down visor. As for the visor, i'm new to helmets with them, so i'm not sure if they're all like this, but it does not work so well for wind protection. It's obviously better than without, but even with the visor down, I still got plenty of wind around the back, which dried out my contacts after only a few minutes. The tint is great for reducing glare without being too dark. But if you like to ride with the visor up, it's no substitute for a good pair of sunglasses. The wind channels built into the helmet do a very good job of funneling air around your head and keeping the whole helmet comfortably cool.I really like that the modular switch is pull instead of push. In a crash, there's much less chance of the button getting hit and popping the top up.
