Great unit. If you are running multiple networks in the same place a patch bay is a must have addition.
This is a rack mount panel that will fit in my recording studio racks but instead it will be wall mounted where my Ethernet junctions come together in the basement. I hard wired the entire house in Cat 6 and then along comes wireless AC which is giving me the same performance in the online speed tests but that depends on how close you are to the router.I have Verizon FIOS and have been using the same router since 2008. It is not an AC wireless router. I picked up a TP Link AC wireless with guest network capacity as an add-on router to the Verizon. So having two routers with two networks can take a little juggling. That is where this Star Tech patch bay comes in. With this patch bay I can take any connection in the entire house and hard wire rout it to either router. When you have roommates, or guests you may now want them joining your private network. If they are tech savvy that could mean they are invading your privacy.Just for those who are interested there is a big difference between a switch and a patch bay. With a switch all connections are shared with a single network. With a patch bay each and every connection is isolated. So let's say you have a lot of connections and in my example I want some of them to be fed from one router, and others from another.By taking all of the hard wired Cat 6 cables and splicing them into the back of the patch bay, and then identifying them on the top of each outlet with a writable strip, you can then, just like Ernest the switchboard operator, connect anyone with anything. It really tidies everything up. First all of your hard wired Ethernet wires are not all over the place. They all lead to this patch bay entering the back. The back has the individual wire press fit connectors so you are not plugging in the back and front. It is always better to run raw wire and then use the splicing tool to join it, otherwise you are overbuying wire, let's say a 25 foot piece, only using 18 feet and having to toss the other 7 feet. With raw wire you reel off of the spool the 18 feet that you need, and the other 7 feet stays on the spool with full flexibility since it is joined together in let's say a hundred foot roll. The front has the standard RJ45 Cat 6 connectors, so you can run short cables between your router, and switch, into the face of the patch bay, neatly labeled as to their destination. It is also really nice to be able to troubleshoot a bothersome connection. It eliminates the guesswork out of which wire is which. The patch bay is well made with the standard thickness of a rack mount face plate. It is strong enough for any purpose you would need a rack mount for. There are 4 sections with each have 6 Cat 6 ports in each section. It looks very professional. I wish there was something negative I could say about it, but I haven't found anything. Nice way to get organized. Highly recommended.

Perfect for small/medium business network racking or home networking
This 1U rackmount CAT6 patch panel will fit in any standard 19" network rack or hinged bracket. The 110 punchdowns are tight with labeling to support A or B T568 wiring standard. Between each run of 6 ports, there are cable tie-downs to keep your cables secured after punching down. This is going iinto my home network rack to re-terminate all of the existing Cat5e that is being bridged into a 66 block that used to be used for telephone when the house was built 12 years ago. This makes reuse for Ethernet simpler without having to rewire all the rooms for hardwire ethernet. For my new runs, I'll be using Cat6a until they ratify Cat8. Even with Wireless AC, there's nothing like the stability of a hardware for your media cabinets, home office and control devices. They are solid steel with nicely rolled top and bottom edges. There are no sharp edges. The port numbering is clear on both sides. Quality construction. The only addition that would like to see is a lacing bar for cable relief... but one can be purchased as needed.

StarTech 24 Port 1U rack out Cat 6 Cable Panel
When this product became available in Vine, I ordered it. Here is what I found: 1. This is the perfect size patch panel for either a home or a small office. While it is possible to put connectors on all of the cable that you have run and then plug them directly into a router or a switch, having a patch panel really simplifies making connections, testing, and rerouting a connection when you need to. This allows you to bundle up all of the cables into a neat group and not have to pick them apart when you need to change something which generally turns that bunch of cables into a real rats nest! 2. Speaking of keeping track of things, the included wire ties make it easy to keep things straight and there are places on the panel to label (very important step) what is what. There is NEVER time later to come back and do it so just do it as you go and make your life easier!! 3. The panel does not come with a punch tool, so you are going to need to buy one! PLEASE do as trying to push the wires in with a screw drive is NOT a good idea!!! 4. The panel mounts easily and fits standard racks. They have included mounting screws to fit most racks. This is a Great product that is easy to use and makes life much easier for a small business or a home. I would recommend this product if you have a need for such a product.

StarTech 24 Port Rackmount Patch Panel
This is a high quality patch panel. It is easy to install and set up for a communications room or a rack. It's lightweight but well made with all the design details you would want. All the RJ45 ports are locked in and numbered, and the whole housing has standard screw holes to be installed in a rack. On the back each connection is clearly numbered to help with cabling. If that's not enough there are some short but sweet instructions included too, along with some ties and the rack screws. Each panel has been tested and is listed as UL CCA 14RS. Each panel can accomodate up to 24 CAT6 connections. The panels are made in China and include a 2 year limited warranty. They come discretely packaged in a thin white box for easy storage and transport before installation.I did not patch all 24 ports, but so far no dead ports. This is a great product at a very nice value.

and it's about the perfect size since I only put roughly 20 drops into ...
I got the 24 port 1U Cat6 (standard) version of this, and it's about the perfect size since I only put roughly 20 drops into my new home. Right now it's sitting in a small wall mount rack like thing, but will be over over to a full size rack shortly. I have a Monoprice patch panel as well that I got earlier, and the build quality seems roughly the same (didn't compare wires or anything). Punched down without any issues, mounted up without issues.

American import
This panel would not work with my IDC tool which I've used to punch down hundreds of cables. This panel looks to be an American import. Build quality seemed good however.
