You could lightly paint them to dim the bulb, I love them the way they are **Q: How many branches you get in a set?** A: There's two main branches, with smaller branches coming off each.....like 10 or so off each main branch. **Q: Are these branches connected to a cord of some kind? In one photo, it looked like a dark cord coming out of the top of the vase.** A: The branches each have individual dark electrical brown cords that converge into single cord to connect with the base unit that holds the control switch and batteries. It is well designed and the cord and base unit are easily concealed behind the display container. **Q: The top of my vase only has a 2” opening, will these fit into my vase?
