1. After first wash and dry well, medium heat 2-3 minutes 2. 1/2 cup oil in pan, coat well. Heat on medium until oil smokes then turn heat off and remove oil 3. You can now start cooking Wipe off with paper towel after completing cooking. Repeat this process after each use

Q: Can you place this pan in a broiler?

The handle is plastic and removable if you take the handle off yes you can, for me I wouldn't I just don't like extra work to take the handle off and put back on.
