I purchased this self healing mat for the purpose of leather-working after countless hours of researching all of the tools and products I would need to start creating leather ART! This particular mat was highly recommended on a website on which they listed all of the basic tools needed for making leather work. After seeing the reviews, I was kind of torn between this mat, and another highly reviewed brands' mat. I'm happy I went with this one. As petty as this may seem, I loved the fact that it was black as opposed to most of the other ones being green. Put that on top of the many highly acclaimed reviews, and recommendation from another source, the choice was clear. I've been using this mat for a few months now, and trust me, it's taken a beating. I've sliced and sliced on this thing with anything from a basic utility knife, to a rotary cutter, and mostly xacto knives every day since getting it, and it's really held up! I don't see myself having to replace this mat any time soon. In fact, I'll be purchasing another, as my wife and I are in the beginning stages of having our own leather company. We're not doing this as hobbyists. Leather-working is what we want to DO as a living. We're moving from Oakland, CA to the Sacramento area to gain more space, as the Bay Area of California is ridiculously expensive, and we're currently working out of a studio. Our goal, and only thing we want is to have a modest house that has a garage so we can use it as a work space. We plan on having at least 2 large working tables in our new work-space, so getting at least another one of these is definitely going to be required. Dahle really holds up to what they advertise this mat is. It's extremely well made, it's definitely self healing, and I won't be buying any other brands' mats. This is an incredible item offered at a more than fair price, so it really is a win-win. I'd highly recommend this product to anyone that needs a mat like this for their work. Especially leather workers!!

​I had a persistent bubbling issue with my 36x48 Vantage mat that arrived rolled. After months of trying to flatten it myself, I reached out to Dahle support. Even though I was past the standard warranty, they were professional, responsive, and are sending a replacement. It’s a relief to know that a premium brand actually treats its customers like pros. Highly recommend! Also, this will be my 3rd Dahle Vantage mat, i am a fan for life!

I've been cutting on this cutting board for about a month now and it is performing exactly as I thought it would, cuts in the surface are self-healing. Large size lets me cover my entire work surface which comes in handy for large objects. Objects sit evenly on this large surface as well. Worth the extra price for the larger size.

This is without question the best cutting mat I have ever used. I mostly specialize in leatherwork, but also sewing and other crafts. I build a massive butcher block work bench, and I wanted a thick self-healing mat that was transparent enough to show the grain of the bench. This fit the bill PERFECTLY. It's nice and thick, never have to worry about cutting through, even with the extremely sharp blades I use. HOWEVER.. there is one catch. The inch marks on the left edge and bottom edge are the only marked sides, as the mat offers metric scales if you were to rotate 180-degrees. This is a nice feature, but ultimately makes the mat much less functional for either scale, as the metric scale is also not featured on the opposite edges, accordingly. If the inch lines were bolder, and the half-inch lines were thinner (or a different color/shade), this would not be as big of an issue.. but when I have an entire side of leather laid out, and am trying to square up a cut, I have to count the half-mark lines from one edge to ensure my straight-edge is lined up. If the inch markers were along the top and right sides, this would without be a 6-star rating! The mat is phenomenally well-made, but this little omission of a continuous scale along all edges knocks off a star, instead. That being said, the mat was shipped flat and I have had no issues with warping even in my garage in the warm Virginia summers. I stuck the top corners down using carpet corners, and it hasn't budged since. In conclusion - you will not be disappointed with this mat! It is thick, reliable, and durable. Just keep in mind that the scale is not mirrored on the opposite side, so you may find that to make some projects more difficult. I am planning to maybe write the missing markers in sharpie on the bottom of the mat, so I can maximize the potential. Hopefully they remedy this in the future, because this mat is otherworldly apart from that!

Arrived folded in half, but it laid flat very soon after unboxing. It’s perfect for my craft table. Grid lines accurately measure inches and centimetres. I’ve been cutting fabric on it with a rotating blade for 2-3 weeks and the mat heals up nicely. Pleasure to work on this surface. I Recommend this to any crafter.

Me gusto ya que es grande y muy practica para cortar con cúter rotatorio o normal, el único detalle es que como es color transparente si se mancha se notan mucho las manchas. Excelente producto creo que también comprare la tabla color negro.

We have an ikea table we just purchased recently for our crafting area and this mat is the perfect size and thickness to preserve the table top. The clear colour is great, it doesnt stand out too much and its very thick and durable, so i could see this lasting for a long time.
