Review: Worked great in over a little 12 hours - Works great! Just as others said, the ants were immediately running out of the mound to pick up the bait, I put it on around 3:30 or 4, checked the next morning and there’s no signs of ants in them! I believe I over estimated the 2-5 spoons they recommended and just sprinkled to my heart desire, so the ants didn’t take it all down their tunnels. My dog and I play in the yard multiple times a day and she has not gone near it or even tried to sniff, same with my cat, I usually monitor while outside and she also was near the area of one of the mounds and did not care to go over to it, so I’d say it’s safe for pets in that sense. I didn’t smell any anything when pouring, the last brand I used had an awful smell, it did the trick but if the winds going, you’re turning your head to get away, but not with this one! The granules are bright yellow which I like so it will be easier for me to get any remaining granules so I don’t have to worry about the animals ever trying to ingest. Overall, as said it worked perfectly in over a little 12 hours all mounds clear, some huge mounds and some small, we had about 5 of them in the play zone and walk zone that needed to be handled quickly. I seen a lot of reviews from Texas, this is in Jacksonville, FL if it matters or curious! Just regular ol mean fire ants in a dirt mound!
Review: Very happy with the results. - Took out a large colony that was feeding on the roots of my Mimosa tree. I was surprised it took them out completely. Took a few days, maybe a week, but they are all gone. The ants were medium size, and I am happy to say the really small ants also leave. Seems to work great on whatever sized ant you may have.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Does this also kill black ants?**
A: Very effective on fire ants, but I've had mixed results with black, sugar ants. I've switched to another bait for black ants.

**Q: Can it be used on organic farms (vegetables and fruits)**
A: Amdro is a trade name for a hydramethylnon-based hydrazone insecticide, commonly used in the southern United States for fire ant control. Amdro was patented in 1978 by the American Cyanamid company, now Ambrands, and was conditionally approved for use by the United States Environmental Protection Agency in August, 1980. It is a delayed-toxicity food chain killer, in which soldier ants carry the bait into the mound and feed it to the queen, killing her and decimating the mound. Amdro uses a corn grit and soybean oil base, and must be used within three months after opening to be effective. Amdro has several drawbacks: (1) when it rains, or the bait is moisturized, Amdro loses its effectiveness entirely; (2) insecticide baits tend to be slow working, and take up to a month to be effective; and (3) Amdro cannot be used on food crops.

**Q: do you have to water?**
A: No water is needed. Just sprinkle the bait around the ant hole, but not on top of the hole. It will take about 2 weeks, but the product works!

**Q: How long do I have to keep my dogs out of the back yard after applying. Would covering with a can or box help?**
A: Dogs are attracted to this product. My dog ate some and I called the emergency number listed on the product. They told me they often get called about their dog eating this product. Fire ants usually consume this within 24 hours if you don't over-apply. I've used it for over 20 years. Just follow instructions on the product and you can put your dogs out.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Easy to use and completely eliminates colony
*by J***S on April 28, 2026*

This works best for me. Easy to use, kills the ant colony, all ants in about 18 hours. Depending on the size of the colony, it may take two applications. This is good for all types of ants, especially fire ants
