But would still buy again. *by E***C on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on April 30, 2020* Easy to use and purpose built for securing skis. I have no doubt that this is one of the best options on the market for what it does. It is lightweight, easy to store, and sturdy. The cable is thick enough to instill confidence, and it is a reasonable thickness for a ski lock. Prior to finding this, I have used the Dakine micro lock and found the Dakine lock to be clumsy and flimsy. This is a much better product.However, it does have flaws. There are other reviews of people having issues with the locking mechanism on their lock. I decided to buy one anyway. It comes with 2 keys. My first one snapped while turning the lock after a couple uses. I continued using the second key with no issues, but it was always in the back of my mind that it might snap too and I wouldn't have a backup.Amazon was gracious enough to offer me a refund, and I will most likely re-purchase this lock so I can have a lock with 2 keys again. This is how much I believe that this is one of the best options available for ski locks.If a key snapped again, I would reconsider. ### ⭐⭐⭐ Compact and Light Design *by P***N on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on February 3, 2018* I like the compact and relatively light design which makes it convenient to put in my pocket when skiing. But I read some of the other reviews and agree that the reel mechanism is not smooth and at times difficult when pulling out the cord. I can understand how it may seize up over time. But the reel mechanism seemed to be smooth and easy when rewinding the cord to store away. The cord is just long enough that I was able to secure two pairs of skis placed in immediately adjacent outdoors ski rack positions at the resort. But I did not use it to secure our two pairs ski poles with it at the resort outdoors ski rack. In hindsight, I'll probably purchase another lock for our other skis and just have each person in the family carry their own locks. If you want to lock up/secure multiple skis, my opinion is to get multiple, individual locks so that you have some flexibility and don't have to worry about finding immediate side-by-side ski rack positions in order to secure two pairs of skis.The coated steel cord and rugged, hard plastic housing is sufficient to be a deterrent at the ski resort when locking up skis & poles on the outdoors rack during food or bathroom breaks. But I wouldn't recommend this lock if you are looking for a lock to use as a primary lock to secure something overnight, for an extended time in an isolated place, and/or a crime-prone area. If you are looking for a lock to use in that type of situation, look for another heftier lock type. Overall, I like this lock for use on ski trips. But, I gave it 3 stars instead of 5 stars because it is pricier compared to other locks and the difficulty with the reel mechanism at times when pulling out the cord. I like the overall concept but the design of the reel mechanism can be further improved. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Solid, efficient, but short *by P***R on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on May 14, 2019* The product is as advertised - a well-built, compact locking device. The 'stretch and grab' design is very clever and versatile. Two observations that bump it down a star: firstly, it is a bit of a pain to pull out the cable. It is stiff and time consuming. This may improve with use. The second 'failing' is that the cable itself is quite short. Yes, it can be used to secure a helmet and even a jacket (if you really cram it). Do what I didn't: read the specs and take out a tape measure and visualize just how short that length is.
