It just works
Not as full featured as some of its competitors, but this is reliable and does exactly what it claims to do.

Reliable
I have had this installed on my 4Runner since 2019. I use it for alternator and solar charging via a panel permanently installed on my roof rack. I have never had an issue with it overheating or any other problem. My two auxiliary batteries, used for Snomaster fridge/freezer and CPAP machine, remain in great shape due to this unit. I highly recommend this appliance.

Exceeded my expectations
It's rare when a product exceeds expectations, but this blew me away. It's built like a tank. Overdesigned, with huge cables. The engineers that designed this put a lot of passion into the design, and it shows. Over-voltage shut off, under-voltage shut off. Massive cables, and delivers the amps. I'm an electrical engineer, and a 'wire guy', and this charger is amazing. I wired this (orange-green wires connected) for LiFePO4 battery. On the input side my truck supplied approximately 12.5V and up to 30A drawn from the system battery. On the output, a clean 14.4V and full rated 25A. Once I shut off my truck, the truck battery draw stops, and I'm running on the secondary batteries I charged. Exactly as I wanted. This is made in Australia, and I can say I'm super impressed. I'm old enough to remember when "made in America" meant something - products that were built rugged and lasted forever. This charger has the same feel. Cables larger than they need to be. Big heat sink. No doubt this will last and last. I anticipate many happy years with this charger. After years of buying marginal products from overseas that barely deliver, it's refreshing to find one that inspires as much confidence as this. A work of engineering art. Very much looking forward to using it.

Top Tier customer support
It is an exceptional product, well built and feature rich, but the thing that was incredible was the customer service. I talked to Mark Bruce in Internationl Support and he was incredible. He walked me through everything I would need to set it up and sent me a wiring diagram for my specific application. We are on opposite sides of the world, so for several nights I would email him questions and each morning I had detailed answers. I have since installed it and it is running great. RedArc is the big dog in this market for a reason.

a bit pricey, but works perfectly.
honestly works perfectly. i only rated it 4/5 because the price i feel is a bit steep for its function. although i dont know the cost of putting one of these together. i think if it was maybe $100-$200 cheaper, it would be a perfect spot. make sure you read the instructions if youre installing it yourself. otherwise just have a pro install it.

Excellent addition to my 4runner
Awesome product, charges my second battery (Optima) nicely. Took a 4 day trip off grid with no problems. Never ran short of power. Only drove my vehicle 1-2 hours a day. Quickly charged up my system that powers the refrigerator. Couldn’t be happier.

If you have a "Smart Alternator" you need this for an AGM house battery
Does the job. Just installed a second AGM battery and a smart isolater kit. It wouldn't top off my AGM battery because I have a smart alternator which cycles from 12.8v to high 13's depending on what the state of charge is on my start battery. This REDARC BCDC charger solves that problem and charges my auxiliary AGM battery to 14.6v (full charge) regardless of what my stock charging system is doing. I mounted it under the hood on top of my fuse box. It gets hot there from engine heat so we'll see how it does on a 2000 mile trip this week. I bought this mainly to power an 80 qt compressor fridge/freezer unit. Later I plan to add an inverter to my system.

This unit is built like a tank! Easy to install, just make sure you follow the instructions to the letter. I initially hooked up the grounds to both of my batteries and this does not work. Must be vehicle or frame grounded. Also do not cheap out on resettable 60 amp breakers. They overheat and trip. I then bought the recommended 60 amp blade fuse breakers from Redarc and the whole setup works amazingly! Full 50 amp charge going to my RV battery bank. Service was also off the charts as I had questions about my initial set up. Absolutely worth the money over the other DC to DC chargers available.

Working great! Easy enough to install. Keeps my Lithium battery topped up. And the proven toughness of Redarc is great piece of mind. Wasn't sure if I needed the 1240 but the 1225 has been perfect and the compact size has been a big help in saving space.

Not cheap, but it does what it says on the tin. Cons: - Price (but buy once, cry once) Pros: - Tough as nails and waterproof - you can literally mount this thing anywhere - Solid charging performance - 350w/25A to the battery being charged - Great MPPT performance - wrings every last watt out of your solar panels - Set & forget - once it's setup, it just works. - Size - pretty compact Once I installed this, I realized pretty quickly that although the LEDs on the front of the unit will confirm which battery chemistry you have configured it for (lithium in my case), where it's drawing power from (alternator or solar) and charge stage, it can't tell you the state of charge, and Lithium will just output 13.3v until they fall off a cliff when they're pretty much empty. If knowing your state of charge is important, then maybe the manager 30 might be a better unit (will also tell you how much solar is coming in, how much from the alternator etc... I personally couldn't justify the cost and the size of the manager 30, and didn't need all the features that it offers (AC input, control the inverter etc) so went for a Victron BMV712 battery monitor, which gives me most of the important (to me) info and functionality that the manager 30 will give me, and takes up next to no space. Overall very happy with this unit and would recommend it to anyone needing to charge house batteries in any vehicle.
