Love the Quality craftsmanship. Feels Solid and tough, ready for the California Coast line. Fits just right on my Shimano 7ft FX Casting Rod. Spooled on 20lbs Mono line. Drag set for 5lbs. Should do the trick. Drag setting was easy using digital fish scale...Spool release also easy, 4oz. Led. Adjust knob as the Led Drops and the Spool stops on its own. All functions and buttons work smooth. Will up date once I get out there and Cast for a few hours. All and all, $50.00 Yes worth it: THREE YEARS Service Warranty is Why I choose this Reel. UPDATE.. Went Surf fishing 2 hours...Got The Spool tensioner Down. No Birds Nest. Having ISSUES with Retrieving. Spool won't Lock in and Turn. Might just be "A Drag Dial issue." UPDATE: The Parts List #27 PINION Nut Striped after 20 Min of use. Only Casting no fish on the line, the Reel Retrieving Nut Striped. Would NOT engage with spool. Emailed Seller Three times, called twice no answer....not heard from seller Yet. Let's wait a few more days. See how their costumer service handles this issue. " (2 Now Months now...Never heard from Customer service. ) Unfortunately I Purchased Two TDR 40. " Have not used the other one yet. 😔 UPDATE. Second one. Worked better. Not stripped YET. Only problem is when Casting...The Spool locks up. I believe is because of the Reel Handle's position. Keep it pointing Down. P.S. Amazon Stepped-up to The Plate. Bought this reel in July of 2025 for my daughter. Was not used until November. After 2 days it has already broken. The level wind mechanism has already broken. Return to Amazon is no longer an option. Do not buy!

I ordered a DTR40 on 3/22/2024, received the reel promptly mounted it on a rod but didn't get to use it until 5/12/2024 and the first cast the gears went out barely got my lure back in, this is a piece of junk, it looks good but is a waste of money and now it's too late to send back but I'll call it a lesson learned. CHANGE: I have changed my mind on this reel, the first one I got was a faulty reel as I said, but I need to give the company a good review cause they shipped me out a new reel within a few days and the new one works as it should so I'm changing my rating to 5 stars, anyone can have a faulty piece of equipment once in awhile but if the company stands behind their equipment you can't fault them, I would buy this reel again.

Good for the money but still not exactly the best you can get. It takes a little time and work to get use to the casting without a backlash

I was curious if anyone else has the clicking noise when reeling. It's not the clicker engaged. Hopefully the video shows and sounds accurate. Otherwise reel seems nice. I'm concerned it won't last with this click/grinding noise Have not used yet but no complaints other than noisy when reeling

This had to be the worst real I've ever bought for $70. I used it in the beginning but despite the enormous handle and hard to crank because too far out mode of the entire handle it still was used for only a few minutes. I caught a few sea bass and not any large fish until it wouldn't click on and off for the bail then the clicker itself that then the actual level wind bad and completely broke. When I say this is a piece of crap I mean it is really bad because I only used it for a few minutes and it conked out on me. I will never buy a real like this and I do not recommend this unless you want to break your reel really fast without even catching a fish big enough for you to say you broke it with a big fish.

Seems to be well made, only time will tell.The only issue so far is the lever doesn’t always stack in the locked position,crank the handle half a turn then it does! Only used 3 times cod fishing yet! 5 times of use and the handle nut dropped in the ocean!!! After 6 weeks it’s slipping when reeling in!

Absolute garbage ! This reel wasted my expensive ocean fishing line. The unit did not last one day before won’t wind or lock just fin useless
