Reverse the Polarity !!!
Awesome Third Doctor's Sonic Screwdriver. It makes 4 sounds: 2 that cycle through "normal" sounds when the top is pulled down once or twice quickly, and 2 that can be accessed by pulling down 3 and 4 times quickly (much the same as the 11th doctor's sonic screwdriver). The red tip is made of soft plastic, like a cheap plastic fork or spoon, and it flexes accordingly, but it seems sturdier than other reviewers imply. Just like it would take a lot of bending to snap a soft plastic fork, the same would seem to apply here. I dont anticipate that the tip will break through normal use. There are no rattling parts, nor does the tip vibrate as the product photo seems to imply. The battery compartment is somewhat inconspicuous, but still visible unfortunately. Otherwise, the detail on the rest of the toy is quite good. The painting and lines are sharp and bright.I loved Jon Pertwee's Third Doctor, and I'm glad this sonic screwdriver was made so well. Im sure he is reversing the polarity of something in that big Tardis in the sky. Highly recommend for any fan of the show.

A childhood dream realised!
Jon Pertwee was the Doctor when I was 3-7 years old. In my mind he was the original and the best. Obviously there were others before him, and after him, but when I was a boy, this was the gadget I wanted. I made a make-shift one from my father's tire pressure gauge, but that didn't make noises. Now I don't have to use my imagination OR make the noise myself. All my 40+ friends will be impressed no end when I offer to fix their malfunctioning carburetor without even lifting the hood of their car. Someone who's been hypnotized by an evil genius can be un-hypnotized with ease by...oh I forgot, in those days the Sonic Screwdriver wasn't a magic wand. But it was fun, and it IS fun. This well-made replica from Underground Toys has the look and feel of the real thing - there's one sliding bit and two different sounds which alternate when you slide the sliding bit. A must for any Third Doctor fan of any age!

Lots of fun, but a little delicate
On the whole, this one is very cool. Some of the paint is a little unevenly applied, but it looks pretty good for a toy. The emitter on top does not appear to be connected by a very sturdy piece of material, and I'm afraid if a kid got ahold of this, it wouldn't last long. When the trigger is in the rest position, it supports the emitter somewhat, and if you carried this in a coat pocket, it would PROBABLY be okay. The sound is good, but there are only two sound effects, played alternately, and they are very similar to each other. Moreover, they aren't very loud. If you were showing this to somebody at a sci-fi convention, he might not even hear it in the noisy convention hall.Mostly though, this toy makes me giggle. I've wanted my own sonic screwdriver since I was five years old.

Brilliant!
Since Pertwee is by far my favorite of the classic Who Doctors I just had to have this Sonic. Looks pretty darn close to the one seen on screen. NuWho sounds though, which is a bit odd but then again, sound department really couldn't agree on what the sonic sounded like during the 3rd doctor's time. Changed every appearance it had or at least it seemed like it.The emitter seems kinda off with its orange-y soft plastic. Fragile too. The barber's stripe is a sticker and not painted on but I'm okay with that. Fits perfectly in hand much like 10th's sonic does. Even though it wouldn't be in-scale with the show I'd kinda like to see a larger 11th-esque version come out.The big negative about this thing is the price. It's a toy. With two sounds, no lights, no gizmos. Yes, it is meant to be a collectors item but for this price I'd expect at least a die-cast base. Considering the numbers are supposed to be limited and it is still pretty cool I'll let the price slide. If you have/or are a Pertwee Doctor fan, pick this up if you have a chance. It's great!

Hopefully Great For Cons!
If you're reading this it's probably because you're interested in buying this. Buy it.This sonic screwdriver is a bit more delicate by design than my Tenth Doctor one, but it's great for Third Doctor costumes and just as a fun item to own.As I mentioned in the title, I bought this for ECC and I look forward to using it there. It seems pretty strong, the only kind of delicate bit is the tip.I also enjoyed the Third Doctor holocard in the pack. The only negative I can think is battery placement and replacement isn't easy.

Reverse the polarity
It arrived very fast, just minutes ago, actually and I couldn't be happier with it. Very screen accurate, it has two sounds as advertised but it is a bit hard at first to distinguish the two sounds from each other. I think it is very good for the price, but the top circular emitter is a bit flimsy, you do not want to be too rough with it, but hey, if it can withstand cyberman, daleks, and dinosaurs, it must be pretty durable, with it I hope to save the world, along with my other three sonics, and to reverse the polarity of the neutron flow

Great for “Doctor Who” Fans!
This sonic screwdriver from Underground Toys faithfully replicates the device employed by Jon Pertwee, the Third Doctor, during his tenure on “Doctor Who” between 1970 – 1974. It works great for cosplay and for fans looking to add to their collection. My only concern is the way that the top piece attaches. It could be rather flimsy, but should hold up to most uses by fans. The two sound effects faithfully replicate those from the show.

Very Pleased Indeed
This is great for cosplsy, collectors, and kids, however the sound comes from the bottom so its easy to cover the speaker on accident and it's obvious the "sonic" it's coming from the "emitter" which is a tad bit flimsy but not to the point of falling off, but I wouldn't yank, bend, or twist it for sure. It is a great replica. Licensed BBC merchandise.
