It works. Just need a little patience.
Update 9/3/20: I did end up removing the tape 3 weeks after applying it. No damage to leather and wood furniture. Remember I applied it lightly. My cat hasn't touched any of the mentioned areas for 5 months. Well, until today. Maybe she needed a little reminder or maybe it was revenge for giving her a bath?!? Either way tape went back up and this is still the best solution for us:) SUUUPER sticky!! This will stick to everything! Works 100%. So, I never had an issue with my 12 year old cat until I moved into my new home with my dumb idea....Why not get all new wood and leather furniture? :(. Yup, soon after I spent 3 weeks of hell. Constantly looking over my shoulder ready to pounce any sound similar to scratching or close to it. (sometimes crunching plastic bags). But with 1 week of hard research I found a simple, maybe temporary, solution. Double sided tape! Her favorite nail trimming areas are my entertainment center, leather ottoman and door trims. It only took 2 days for this bad behavior to start! I did need to find a workaround when using this tape on the mentioned furniture though. Since the tape is so sticky it removes some laminate and lightens the wood a bit when its peeled off. It also peeled some paint off of the door trims and it's so strong it leaves kind of like a scar mark on my leather ottomanan. Because of this I had to cut strips in half lengthwise and lightly apply to edges of areas she attacks. I leave the tape a little loose. Also, I stick it to the carpet once and peel it off to reduce the strength of the glue. Separating the tape from the roll can take me a minute or two since the arrow guide is only on the start of the roll. I know this seems like a lot of work but I don't mind because it saves my furniture. She hasn't touched those areas in 10 days. As soon as I gather my courage I will be removing the tape. Remember when you do remove it very slowly or you could damage your new furniture! Again, I wouldn't stick it whole side flat against any wood or painted areas just lightly around edges. Don't forget you still need to get a scratching post!! Keep it nearby. You need to give her something to satisfy the urge to scratch. I hope this review makes life a little easier for all pet lovers out there:)

Great deterrent for cats that scratch!
Love this stuff! Our cat was beginning to scratch the corners of our brand new couch. We had to do something to stop the behavior so we decided to try this tape. It came in a large roll so we have lots left over. It was easy to apply and it is SUPER sticky. Our cat tried to scratch shortly after I applied the tape. Her paw stuck for a few seconds and she gave up right away. So far so good! If I remember, I’ll give an update once it’s been on the furniture for a few weeks. Edit: it’s been one week since I’ve purchased and applied the sticky tape. I must say, it absolutely worked. So well, in fact, that I felt confident enough to remove the tape today. My cat hasn’t shown an interest since I first put the tape on. One thing for buyers to look out for: the tape is VERY sticky. It was tricky to remove from my couch after it had been applied for a week. Not impossible. But tricky. Didn’t leave any damage to my couch that I can tell so, all in all, I can’t complain! Would buy and use again for sure

Works in many cases, sticks almost too well sometimes, so watch out on some surfaces!
This stuff is very sticky. On most fabric that's not a problem, but some things like foam mats or anything where the finish might get ripped off I wouldn't want to chance it, at least not without using some sort of less sticky backing on it. I'd say there's probably a demand for a less sticky version of this stuff in addition to the very sticky version. It very quickly got my cat off the sofa arms and sides. I didn't even need to leave it there for more than a few days. But it's not so great for tables and counter tops since it's very hard to leave it on those heavily used places for long enough. And kitty might just be too tempted by the prospect of some food crumbs and spills to care about a little sticky stuff. But when it comes to some much less rewarding areas, like sofa arms and corners, it's very effective.

Great sticky tape & easy to apply. Stopped my cat from scratching the recliner.
This tape has been a great deterrent to stop my cat from scratching on the recliner. This is an excellent size tape of four inches. It has stayed attached to the recliner for months without losing it’s stickiness. It was easy to apply without getting stuck to my fingers. I highly recommend this tape.

The worst tape!!!!
This is the worst tape I’ve ever used for cat scratching! It is nearly impossible to separate the sticky part from the backing. It is nearly impossible to stick it onto a piece of furniture, And it crumples off easily. What a complete waste!

Sticky solution for tin foil
Excited to try. Just got new furniture and even though the cat can’t get under it to tear up the bottom he has already scratched on one of the sides by turning sideways. We had stapled tinfoil but it started coming off. Using the tape to hold on the tinfoil is my solution to avoid the dirt and dust collection. It’s nice that I can cut the tape to size around the edges.

This is the only thing we've found to get our cat to stop clawing at the furniture. The tape is nice and wide to cover lots of surface area. Its a little difficult to install on corners and such, but nothing unexpected with a double sided tape. It would almost be better if the outward side was a little less sticky than the back side to avoid getting stuck to it during installation, but overall a great product that does the trick. It is clear and not extremely shiny so you can barely tell its there.

One of our cats had found the weak spot on our micro-fibre seat: the bottom. As she was going to eventually tear through it and get inside the chair and destroy it from the inside (cats ...), we bought this to stop her from doing so. After a few attempts she has now given up. As it was put somewhere you can't see it I can't comment on aesthetics, but it works really well and stays (bought it months before writing the review).
