Exceeded my expectations
After reading the reviews for this light, I expected a bright, functional, & durable light, which is a lot to expect, considering its economical price. My expectations were exceeded by the nearly immaculate and even finish on the body, and the quality and amount of the light output from this emitter. From across a small/medium sized bedroom the spot is about 10in round, and drops about 50% at the edge, which has a slight and even taper. The flood around the hot spot illuminates the entire rest of the wall, evenly again, and tapers again with another soft edge at the wall-edges. I couldn’t get a justifying shot with my device’s camera, hence the explanation. The tonal quality of the emitter is quite nice, even though it’s very bright, it’s not too “blue”, and does not fatigue my eyes unless I hold and point the light very close to an object, then it can start to be fatiguing, as would any light of equal brightness. It’s worth mentioning that the hotspot is very even, and it’s bright, but not so bright that it’s hard to look at from across a room. The light becomes warm from prolonged use, powered by an 18650, but doesn’t get too hot to feel like it’s burning hot. I will update this review after time has passed to add to my initial thoughts.

Favorite basic flashlight! ON-OFF, simple very bright, WORKS!!!
I am a flashlight addict, There I admitted it....! This flashlight I have bought many times and leave them all over. They are cheap. Well constructed. Use a single 18650 battery. Buy panasonic 18650 lithium batteries, don't go cheap. Charge lasts a very long time. They are bright and last hours. And the best of all, it is ON or OFF!!!!!!!! No multiple modes to fumble thru, no strobe to blind you, it just works. Keep a spare battery in a zip lock sandwich bag in your coat pocket if you are a heavy user. It is my favorite everyday use flashlight. Only maintenance is clean threads with a isopropyl alcohol soaked Q-tip once a year. Charge battery every 6 months of no use, set a reminder on your calender. This is a KISS flashlight....

Good quality, simple, maybe too simple. Satisfied customer.
Very bright with an 18650 battery installed (not included). Seems to be well made and the battery fits well. I gave minus 1 star because I've never been able to find the perfect flashlight. Either they have too many or too little modes, the modes are activated or changed in a weird way, or flexibility on battery type is not good. The good and the bad of this light is it has one mode. It's good because it's simple. The bad is because it's always on "high" mode and I can imagine a 10 watt Cree LED is going to suck up the juice pretty quick on a 9 watt-hour 18650 battery. I'm not sure if it operates on the full 10 watts, so maybe the battery life is better than expected. I have done no tests on that. No focus, which makes it simple. The beam shape is good for general use. Battery type is flexible with an 18650 lithium or two CR123A lithium. Two battery types is a nice feature not seen in all lights. I recommend it if the features listed above suit you. I'd say it's great for general use if you're not too far away from a charger or do not use it for extended periods. As an emergency light, it might not be the best option if the battery drains quickly. I see it as a good utility light or tactical light where performance matters over longevity. For an emergency light I would prefer something with a high and low mode, just those two (Good luck finding that). Who the heck needs a strobe and SOS mode? I've seen that on other lights. That's what my second hand is for.

Highly recommended for Law Enforcement Gun Belts
I have been a Sheriff's Deputy for 18 years. I have a few suggestions for you fellow LEO brothers and sisters. When wearing a gun belt, pair this Skysted Flash Light with the Bianchi Accumold Elite 7926 Compact Light Holder (Plain Black , Size 2). It will be smaller and lighter in weight than the standard Stinger LED. The reduced weight will help for the 12-16 hour days/nights, and has helped me reduce back pain/irritation, especially if you opt for the Peerless ultra light handcuffs, which are also available on Amazon. I keep the "Issued Stinger Flash Light" in the Patrol Car for directing traffic/orange cone, and as a backup light. This Skysted light is also small enough to mount on any AR 15/M-16/long rifle/shotgun (with an adaptor). It does not have the annoying blinking option. It is a simple on/off light. Although it is small, it puts out some serious lumens/light and it is A LOT CHEAPER in price than some of the similar lights in the same lumens categories. My co-workers are jealous that I was able to buy this flashlight for a lot less than they paid for their flashlights. Just make sure to buy some quality/spare 18650 batteries and keep them in your patrol car. Charge the 18650 batteries on a high quality battery charger such as the Nitecore series (Vapers use those batteries and chargers a lot). This Skysted flashlight will be the last you will ever need, because you can switch out the batteries in seconds. Remember that 2 is 1 and 1 is none, so keep spare flashlights, batteries, backup guns, and a long gun available to you when patrolling. I am so impressed with this Skysted light that I have bought extras for my house and car as well. Note: It is now July 2021 and I am still using this same flashlight with a high quality 18650 battery, same light and battery, and it has lasted this long (4 years) with no issues. I have just ordered another Skysted light just to keep in my bed stand for a spare. Make sure to use a very high quality 18650 "vaping quality" battery and Nitecore charger for the battery, the charger reconditions the battery on each charge, and it will last you forever, just as this light has done for me. Its on my gunbelt at this second. One of my coworkers mounted his Skysted light on his AR-15 and loves it. Probably the best feature of this light is the one click on and off...no annoying blinking functions.
