Review: Great Card Art Card Game! - The quality and design of the cards is awesome made to last! Highly recommend for Art lovers! I bought two decks and use them in my university classes. The only thing is that there is only three women artist on the deck and their Art are the one with less value. But I added a zero to the price of each of their work making their work one of the highest on the deck. So it worked for my students that are majority women. Highly recommend this for family and school. Very enjoyable.

I love these cards!
Forget the rules and play concentration or go fish with the grandkids. They'll learn to recognize these famous paintings.

Rules are vague at best, but my kids LOVE this game and are learning so much!
The card game is beautiful and has a nice selection of artists. The rules are very vague and missing some key elements as others have mentioned, but for some reason, my kids LOVE this game. They've even memorized many names of paintings because you don't have to have one by the artist already in your hand if you ask for a painting by name. I am shocked when my 6 year old rattles through famous paintings when I can't even remember what Rembrandt's last name is! PLEASE, oh PLEASE make and expansion pack, oh gods of the Show Me the Monet universe! I want them to know more and they will learn it all if you make beautiful cards! I love how much my kids have learned from this and how they are BEGGING me to take them to the National Art Gallery. "Well, ok, kids, I'll take you to the art museum, but you have to take me out for ice cream after!" :) Teaching/parenting win and no brain-er purchase here!

Fun and a learning game
This is a really fun game! I wanted something that several of us could play and actually learn something about the artists. We changed one of the rules because it seemed more logical to group by artists - not by genre - but it's open to modifications. The art is good and we have learned about what the artists have painted while playing the game.

Not great as a game.. images are fine
Cards are very good quality with excellent photos of the artwork... for that 10 stars! However, as a game... 0 stars. The rules are cryptic at best and have many holes in game-play. The wording in the instructions is frustratingly written.

Fun Family Game
This was a gift to my sister for her birthday. Our family (adults and children alike) enjoy the basic way to play, but like others, have come up with our own rules for making it fun. The cards are beautiful and great quality, packaged beautifully in a beautiful box.

Bravo

Like others we changed the rules, and in our case added monopoly money and a dice ... Each players starts with $500m (1 monopoly = $1m). All cards are shuffled and placed in a pile face down in the middle of the table. Players take turns to turn over the top card and then an auction takes place amongst all players with the player with the highest bid winning the painting for their gallery. Players can mortgage a painting they own at any time for 50% of its face value (they can thus bid higher than their cash holding, but must then mortgage paintings if they win the auction). Mortgaged paintings are turned face down and do not earn money at the end of the round. After each auction, the player whose turn it is rolls a "Chance" dice. =1 roll again to determine a bad event (eg. =1 fire, you lose all, but three of your paintings, =2 burglary, you lose your most valuable painting etc), =2 a tourist damaged a randomly chosen painting (turn it face down) =3 and =4 nothing, =5 a benefactor pays for a damaged painting to be restored (turn it face up), =6. roll again to determine a good event (eg =6 benefactor donates $200m, =5 benefactor donates $100m etc). After all players have turned a card and rolled a dice then the round ("year") is over and each player earns money from visitors to their art gallery that year. Only face up cards earn money (ie mortgaged and damaged paintings don't earn money): 10% of total face value on cards + +$5m, $10m and $25m for 2, 3 and 4 cards by the same artist +$5m, $10m and $25m for 2, 3 and 4 landscape or still life paintings +$5m and $10m for 2 or 3 different Italian or Dutch artists +$5m and $10m for 2 or 3 different female artists Only one bonus per painting if it falls into two categories apart from female artists which can be combined with other bonuses. After money is earned, players can trade paintings and/or unmortgage and restore damaged paintings (50% of face value cost). The next round then starts with the first player drawing the top card and all players bidding on it again. 52 cards = 13 rounds. At the end of the final round all players add up the total value of paintings in their gallery/collection then add to that value any remaining cash held. The highest overall value wins. I will post these rules online somewhere with more detail. Enjoy!

was played with 2 art degree people, they loved it. Really enjoyed the oversized cards so we could appreciate the work of the artists, learn a little, and game.
