I purchased this hard sanding pad for my Festool 125 sander because I am building a dining room table for a friends cabin our of wood cut from his property, and he wanted it as natural as possible. I hand planed the top as flat as I could get it, then used the Festool stander and this hard pad to smooth out any plane marks that were left. It worked wonderfully, and I am very pleased with the hard pad and the sander.

What can I say, these are consumables. Replace them regularly and you will get much better life from your paper. The hard disk is a must have item in my opinion, the medium and soft are just too forgiving. This pad leaves nice crisp details, but it also requires a more steady hand and experience. These do wear faster since the backing is so hard, but a small price to pay for fine results.

The Festool 571782 RO 125 FEQ Rotex Sander comes with a "semi-soft" or "medium" pad which is good for general purpose sanding, but for smoothing table tops or large flat surfaces this is the pad you want. The harder pad helps to smooth out uneven joints or mill marks and produce a flat surface in rotex mode.They do seem to wear out faster than the softer pads, which I assume is from the harder backing.

Works just like the original.

Really makes flattening adjoining surfaces much easier.
