Q: Will it fit a kabar short fixed blade with a 5" 1/4" blade ?

Probably, it is just a neoprene sleeve that the knife sheath sits in that is 1 7/8 " X 3 1/4" and the mounting distance for the slot in the knife sheath is 6 1/2 " from bottom of sleeve. Thank You, Saguaro Scuba

While the size of your knife won't be an issue, the lack of threading on the sheath may prove problematic with this set-up as you would be forced to rely on only the pocket portion of the holster without any reinforcement.
