This is a great product, and I was relieved to find it available on Amazon and easy to order. I was disappointed when local pet supply stores stopped stocking Purina DentaLife Cat Treats and tried to steer me to unfamiliar brands supposedly more "natural". My cat has trouble chewing other brands or doesn't like the flavor and won't touch them again. She loves the DentaLife. She is about nine years old and has lost two teeth. Soon after I adopted her at two years, her breath was awful and I let her vet do the dental cleaning which requires general anesthesia. Although it did the job, I hate putting a cat through that, and I've heard stories about pets not coming out of the anesthesia and dying. Rather than go that route every year, I try to maintain my cat's dental health with a regular remedy at home. The DentaLife treats seem to be working. I don't detect bad breath when my cat is near me. The vet has been impressed at how clean her teeth are during regular check-ups. On learning that I was using DentaLife, the vet also thought that fiber content in the treats might help alleviate a chronic hairball issue (although not completely, and that's another story). The VOHC seal displayed on this product was mentioned by the vet as something to look for when shopping for pet dental care products.

The 3 categories for rating this product are flavor, scent, and value for the money. Well, I guess me as the owner of the cat, I would not be able to speak to the flavor and scent part of the rating...... ;) The only thing I can tell is, Simba the cat loves the midnight dental treat. And this is the only dental treat that he would not gobble down without chewing. Kinda of defeat the purpose of the dental part of the treat if a cat can just swallow without chewing. This reason alone is enough for this dental treat to be top ranked!! Enough said!@!

Madison loves these and it does a great job keeping his teeth in great shape. I WOULD PULL BACK NUBS IF I EVER TRIED TO BRUSH HIS TEETH!

My dog and cat both went from decent dental checkups to great ones after using these. In fact, my cat got a compliment on his teeth last vet visit. These are affordable and actually do what they say they will. Plus, it is a treat so you can care for them and treat them at the same time. I would not buy anything else because these work so well. If you have a cat you must check out the cat version.

My cat loves these things. Quantity is as expected. The picture showed a jar of treats. A bag arrived. My cat will shred that bag in 0.02 seconds. I poured what I could fit into the old jar - then sealed the bag and put the rest in the freezer. Only reason I am dropping a star is I expected a fresh jar as was in the picture - no at all with the quality of the product.

Cat likes them, they're approved by the Veterinary Oral Health Council as of April 2017, and they're higher apparent-quality than Greenies (the only other VOHC-approved anti-tartar treat—not necessarily the only other one that works, or the best one on the market). These have more protein and less fiber than Greenies. They do list ground corn first, whereas Greenies lists chicken meal first—followed by wheat and rice. In other words: Greenies gets the meat-thing first on the ingredients list by using two types of starch-things, each of which is less by weight than the meat-thing. Guaranteed Analysis on Greenies, Proteine/Fat/Fiber? 27%/12%/10%. DentaLife? 32%/10%/7%. Meat doesn't provide fiber, and more protein generally means more meat. Can't determine how well they clean teeth, hence the VOHC accreditation: somebody more-knowledgeable than me says they do. Seems to be enough in here to treat the cat for about a month or so. First time she started scratching the cat tree I fed her a bunch there, and now she keeps tearing it up and then nudging the tub. Looks like she's not going to scratch up my piano any time soon. I buy these every couple of months. I only have 1 cat, so this size container lasts a long time. She loves them and will actually drool for them. They are her favorites.

One of my cats had to have 2 teeth removed last year due to a condition where the tartar caused damage to the gum tissue and nerves. The vet clinic gave me a sheet with care suggestions ranging from cleaning my cats teeth daily to adding a liquid to the water. I opted to try the liquid which I began adding 1 drop to the bowl - the cat wouldn't drink the water. I searched on Amazon and found the Purina DentaLife Tasty Chicken Flavor Treats. The directions say to give no more than 17 per day (Since I am retired, he gets 5 three times during the day and 2 before bed). To my surprise, he loves them. After 5 months of giving him the treats I took him back to the vet and the vet was amazed at how healthy my cat's mouth looked. I now give them to my Siamese to keep her tiny mouth healthy. Purina has another excellent product that I will continue to purchase.

My cat adores these .. good for his teeth as well......bonus!!
