Finally, a door mat that doesn't need to be in a covered place like a porch. The rain runs right through it and so far has not frozen into ice on it. The mat is super heavy duty, and physically heavy so there's no chance it blows away or get accidentally moved a lot. Good texture for getting mud off shoes before coming indoors. It looks great too, but most happy to finally find a truly FUNCTIONAL doormat. This was not our first try but the first that actually works well while exposed to the elements.

A previous owner of a house I owned years ago left this mat and I loved it. Wish I had held onto it when I moved. I have bought 3 different disappointing door mats always wishing I could find this one. I finally tried an internet search using the words I could think of to describe it: "linked rubber mat". Woo-hoo! I wish I could have afforded the largest size "just because" it would have visually fit the space better. It is heavy and stays in place while I scrape the mud off my shoes (gardener) and is easy to clean! Just perfect. It will likely outlast the house.

Update: (2024, bought 2018) This porch mat is still 6 years later working well, and still together and in great condition. It's gone through rain, ice and snow and still looks good and performs well. I wanted a fancy wrought iron door mat. Hubby told me to look for one made from tires as they lasted for many years, were durable and non-skid. After reading reviews of the pretty ones falling apart of moving around or being slippery, and reading how good ones from tires were, I was sold. It looks like it looks in the picture. It's not that pretty, let's be honest. But it does work well and looks decent on the porch. I've only had it less than a year, but it did well through both rain, snow and ice (hubby did sweep snow off and scrape ice). It's also not slippery when wet and doesn't slide around. I would suggest ordering the biggest heaviest one you can (they are surprisingly heavy) as I think you'll be happier with it vs one only covering part of a porch or step (steps on this one vs full porch for me). Be sure and measure because there are several sizes and you don't want it hanging off the step. And if you go too small you may not have as good a result as larger (both feet on it with lots of room). I ended up with the largest size that would fit, and I'm glad I didn't go smaller. I anticipate it will last for many years and hope that it does. It's well made and high quality. It's not as pretty as some, but for one made from tires, this was the best value, highest rating and most attractive one I could find. I'm glad I listened to hubby and didn't waste money on a cheap mat that would be slippery and fall apart in a few years. He's seen many of these over the years and thought this one was high quality.

I actually used this on the bottom of my kids outdoor play house and it’s great!! It keeps it from growing weeds so it’s really good. It does perfect all year round because it’s waterproof and it’s been out for years and still looks perfect and brand new because it’s so tough and durable. It also has a nice weight to it so you don’t have to worry about it rolling and moving around or getting picked up by wind. And when it needs a small clean, it’s super easy to clean off with a quick rinse with the hose.

The quality is excellent, easy to clean, of leaves and snow and to hose off. Not slippery. And the size is just right

The nicest tire tread mat I’ve ever found. Lies flat! — while providing all the traction and water drainage looked for in this kind of a mat. ( heavy, of course, as this kind of mat is). Came very quickly.

Absolutely not cheap, but if you want something that's going to be nearly indestructible, won't budge even in high winds, keeps you on your feet when it's icy, hoses off in an instant, and is easy to move out of the way to clean after snow, mud, rain, hurricanes, floods, apocalypse, etc > THIS IS IT. The surface is rough but has no elevated fibers to clean shoe/boot treads or brush off wet grass clippings etc, so it works better with flat soled shoes or shoes with caked on mud and snow. However, all of the other advantages trump the (minor) extra wiping time. It's good to have a boot brush around to get anything off this mat won't catch, but I want one of these at every door in my home!
