Q: Does it have a hole for mounting to a tripod?

The SM-10 does allow for connection to a tripod

Q: Would this device record in a movie theater type setting to determine ear damage for infants?

Unit will give a fairly accurate reading of the db level, but bottom line is, if it's loud enough that taking an infant would concern you, it's probably too loud... Several parents use infant/child hearing protection muffs in any situation that concerns them.

Q: I'm looking for a meter that can accurately read sudden sound "pops". Ambient isn't as important. Would this device suit my needs?

If the sound pops are greater than 125 mS, this meter will capture them.

Q: What is the frequency response of this meter? can i rely on it for hi-fi audio system 20hz to 20khz range?

Fairly accurate for general SPL measurements, but has no capability of individual frequency range measurement like an RTA would.

Stops the loud parties next door!

Just what we needed to document the loud parties next door which have now stopped. They were so loud as to cause hearing damage to us which is not fair. Can’t argue with the readings on a professional grade meter. Thanks!

Decent little meter

Does what it says it will do. Build quality does not seem real durable and windscreen fit is so loose it falls off when tipped. In a good wind it will just blow off, but overall I think it's a decent value for the price paid.
