Bose Sound True Ultra
I have owned every model of Bose earbuds,(except noise cancelling) more than a dozen pairs over the past 7-8 years. I was happy with the basic model (I listen to audio books and music) more than 8 hours per day, 7 days a week. I purchased sound true ultras when I came time to replace worn out set. Sound quality, crazy good. Loved them. Went to replace as the cord split at base. Snafu, picked up the sound sport by accident. Terrible. Sound nothing close to ultra. Tinkered with eq to improve sound. Nope. Bought ultras again. Fabulous. One flaw. My hypothesis is the inner cables are wrapped with too much twist tension, causing the cable to twist over time and use until it becomes annoying. Small gripe. And I have to use a lightning to 3.5mm dongle instead of just plugging into phone. I have done a fair amount of research on earbuds, these are in my opinion the very best. In sound quality. One last note: the silicone earpiece fits into the ear canal, eliminating a good deal of ambient environmental noise. Although not noise cancelling, I would not recommend using when riding bikes or jogging outside where hearing surrounding noise is required for safety reasons. The sound sport allows virtually unobstructed clarity of surrounding sounds. You will love them! There might be a bettter sounding unit, but not for 129.

Get what you pay for (worth it)!
I love these headphones. After trying 4 different in-ear style headphones over the last couple years I finally found the ones I'll use from now on. Admittedly, I tried a few different models in the $15-30 range. While the sound quality with those was good-enough, the fit just wasn't there. With the Bose, the "sharkfin" holds the headphone in your ear so you don't have to rely on the headphone being wedged in your earlobe so it doesn't fall out. Thats the smart design aspect with these. Most earbuds rely on being firmly in place so they don't fall out. Problem is that causes soreness after a while. Also, with the Bose I use the medium ear tip. Along with the sharkfin this means the earbud can fit a little loose, preventing soreness. Also means that the earbuds don't have to block all outside sound. I like to be aware of my surroundings (eg. in the office). But if you want use the ear tip that provides a more firm fit to block more sound. Sound quality is what I would call natural with no over emphasis on the bass or treble, and no distortion. No complaints there. Are they worth $100 more than my Amazon purchased bluetooth headphones? Sound quality wise maybe not. But in terms of fit definitely. By the way, speaking of bluetooth, I happily ditched the bluetooth capability for three reasons. First, having bluetooth means the headphones need to be more bulky. Next, bluetooth headphones are just one more thing to keep charged. Last, most important, my hope of using bluetooth headphones to mow the lawn were squashed when I found the range to be about 20 ft. Back to carrying my phone, and therefore defeating the purpose of bluetooth, in my case. BTW, others have complained with the sound of the chord rubbing against clothing telegraphing through the headphones so you can hear it. My take is this happens with all headphones to a degree. If it happens more with these its because Bose made the chord a little thicker and more durable. There is a clip on the chord to keep it in place more. Also worth trying is to run the chord between your short and body. Bought these not sure if I was going to keep them, thinking it would be hard to justify the cost. If they last a few years, in my opinion it worth it.

Bose should be ashamed to sell these....
Shameful. I’ve had a few different models of Bose in-ear and around ear products over the years, all of which were outstanding. Currently still using my AE2’s, but wanted an in-ear model for working out, hiking, etc. I received these and was completely mystified. No bass at all, only mid and high range, literally ZERO bass. When received, the product was still factory sealed and undamaged as far as I could tell. I unplugged these and connected a set of iPhone earbuds that I received with my iPhone, yep, there was bass with those. Not so with these. How in the world did this pass quality control? ******Update 12/07/17******* Returned these to Amazon and purchased same product from Best Buy. Turns out, Amazon shipped me what appears to be a returned or used item. On comparison to the Best Buy purchase, the item Amazon sent me was missing some items from the box. The product from Best Buy was very good, typical of Bose quality. I can only rate sound quality, not durability, since I’ve just purchased the item. Good bass, not punchy, but very present. Warm and rich mid range with crisp high’s. Very good product. Shame on you Amazon for trying to pass this item off as new...

Great fit; great sound
Great fit; great sound; ears don't hurt I don't understand where all the negative reviews are coming from. Everyone who has tried in ear phones, know for a fact that most of them begin to hurt after a while - and this is one of the most important aspects where Bose completely nailed the design! Try them out to believe it. These are super comfortable Sound wise, I like what I hear :) I had heard from some that the bass is low, well I think these are perfect for the in ear phones, and they do a pretty decent job at noise cancellation though not go all the way! All in all its an excellent buy though could be a tad cheaper! Typical Bose, meaning open clean vocals and mids, punchy snappy lows not boomy, and clean flat highs, but theres a little bump in the upper mid area maybe around 10k thats a little hot and sometimes you can hear it with the letter "S" But seriously these are not for kids that think Boomy bass, no mids and extra highs is the way to set an eq. These are for actually enjoying music, beautiful vocals, punchy bass and clean highs. Dance Music pumps in these things. They arent loud and loose some power but again theyre for enjoying music. I love them

Best Earbuds on the market!
Best earbuds on the market! After owning three sets of Shure earbuds that sounded good, the quality and the crisp sound wasn't there! The Bose are the most comfortable, durable and best sound quality available for your money! I love the way they sit in your ear with the rubber or silicone tips that fit in the outer ear secure and offer the best comfort, you can wear them all day and not even notice there on your ears! Sound quality, what can I say! Having been a Bose speaker owner since the eighties I should have never second guessed the quality that you would expect from Bose. No distortion, clear, highs and mid range with impeccable bass! I'm totally hooked on these earbuds and I'm already thinking of purchasing the noise cancelling earbuds. Just to see if there's any difference! The one suggestion I have is to try all the ear cup sizes out, they come with the medium cups pre installed, I took these off as a suggestion from a friend and put the larger era cups on, now they sound like notice cancelling ears buds, I hear no sound or distortions from out side, you won't be disappointed!

My favorite headphones
These headphones are awesome. They earpieces that come standard on it fit my ears perfectly, but it comes with multiple types of earpieces and sizes. These are great noise-isolating headphones. They do not actively cancel sound, but if you find an earpiece that fits your ear well, these headphones create a great seal to block out external noise. The noise-isolation helps me stay focused at work or relaxed on a plane. These headphones are a bit quieter than I initially liked, but I found that with the noise-isolation, the sound levels are more than needed. The remote works well with my iPhone and the mic is reportedly clear. They have a great, subdued design--nothing flashy--and a great build quality. The EQ on these headphones is pretty neutral, in my opinion. The bass is not booming. They are more than I've ever spent on headphones, but well worth the price. If you learn how to wrap cords properly, you can keep these headphones for a long time.

Just OK... not what I expect from a Bose product
Now that I've had these for eight months, I think I can safely say: 1. They're comfortable in my small ears (yet I wear the "medium" ear tips) 2. The sound quality is OK, not great, just OK. 3. The cord is poorly-made and not intended for leaving your house. I really love my etymotic ear buds but they're incredibly uncomfortable. I typically wear earbuds for several hours per day, so they need to be comfortable after multiple hours of wear. After doing a basic speaker test (20kHz - 20Hz), these Bose earbuds dropped out in a few places, and not on either end of the spectrum. For a product that costs this much, I expect more. A lot more. The construction and feel of this product could be called "delicate" but I think they're just poorly made and they didn't put a lot of thought into durability. I can see how they might have thought this product would be intended for the budding audiophile who mostly listens at home and never needs to put these earbuds in a jacket pocket or a carry-on bag, but many of us do exactly those things, and I think it's reasonable to expect some extra attention in that area, especially for $130. The headphone jack is not a 90-degree type that's perfect for mobile devices, but straight and oh so easy to bend/smash. The ear tips are a lot more comfortable than the torture device they resemble. They allow the ear bud to sit comfortably in my ear, relying less on the ear canal to hold the bud in place and using the stronger exterior cartilage to hold it in place. Unfortunately, this means no running, jogging, or moving around too much or they'll fall right out. Even with the handy collar clip to holds the mic in place, these things are all over the place unless you're sitting, sleeping or puttering around. I specifically purchased these so I can wear them at night if needed, and they're also just OK at that. I have to put my hand under my head when I side sleep because they're too uncomfortable on my ear when they're smushed into the pillow. If you're a back sleeper, then no worries. The current price of $80 is way better than the $130 I originally paid. If these broke I'd consider buying them again, but only because there aren't a lot of good in-ear offerings that are this comfortable for under $200. The search continues (and if you're reading this and think, "hey, what about **insert your favorite sub-$200 in-ear buds**" then let me know!

I love the sound of the ambient silence in my music!!!
Ok... Look: I am a huge FAN of music, but I am not an audiophile and I've never been able to afford Bose headphones before. I bought a pair of these for my husband for his birthday. He liked them very well, and I finally got sick of crappy earbuds/headphones dying after a couple of months, or sounding like I'm wearing them in the pool... so I bought a pair. I expected that I would need to buy aftermarket small gaskets for my ears. Most buds fall out of my ears, so I've mostly had the over-the-ear type (which are sooooo impractical). These, however, FIT. They fit quite well. They sound GREAT. I have noticed that the microphone is a little noisy, but you know... it's MILES above what I had, and it doesn't bother me at all. I listen to minimalist modern orchestral music, ambient music, trip hop and jazz. The ambient and minimalist orchestral music means that there is a lot of ambient silence in the works I enjoy. These headphones represent these silences in a way that makes my heart stop. The drama is back in my music, and I LOVE that. This is at the top end of my budget. I had to save to buy them, but I am definitely happy that I did!!
