A killer on death row admits that he killed yet another victim, the sister of a politician. I was hooked.Then the novel began with another (unrelated) plot. A woman finds a strange photo in the packet of pictures she had developed. Then her husband disappears. Then. . .Honestly, I felt like I was in the middle of one of those soap operas, where you only see five minutes of a plot at a time. It's like a jigsaw puzzle that you have to put together. The plots in this novel kept switching and made no sense; they didn't seem to relate to each other.And characters? This novel had a whole slew! Far too many to remember. A reader almost needs to jot down each character with a brief description in a notebook just to get the gist of who's who.Seriously, a reader almost needs a roadmap to get through this novel. I liked the initial story, but then the novel went in too many different directions. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ This Was So Much Fun, Until....... *by K***! on Reviewed in the United States on August 8, 2019* The end. I had read reviews that said there were a lot of characters. So from the very start of the story, I made a list on my cell phone of who each character was. This worked really well through most of the book. I really enjoyed this story, the writing was great, it was a real page turner. I really liked Grace, the main character. I was fascinated by all the different sub plots, and was trying to piece it all together.Then, the ending came. So, I'm sure that it all makes total logical sense. But, I would have to sit there and read it several times, probably draw out diagrams to figure out exactly what happened. I have a general idea, but that's about all. Because there are just so many details and characters, it was too confusing.Regardless, the good of this book far outweighs the bad. I enjoyed so much of this book that I can forgive the confusion at the end, but I also cannot give it five stars. This is the first Harlan Coben book I have ever read. I will definitely read more of his work, but I do hope that I can figure out what happens in his other books without so much brain drain. ### ⭐⭐ A bizarre story with a disappointing ending *by M***E on Reviewed in the United States on May 2, 2020* I’m usually a fan of Harlan Coben but this book wasn’t great. The story started out strong but then quickly switched plots and became kind of confusing because there were so many people going in different directions. Grace’s husband, Jack freaks out when he sees an old photograph of himself and some friends from college and then he disappears. The story wasn’t believable because the simple truth is that it didn’t make a lot of sense. Only one person in Jack’s picture did anything wrong and he wasn’t the one responsible for everything that happened afterwards. The big threat which caused all the fear from Jack and his friends was weak and not intimidating at all.
