Expensive RGB Dimmable Headlamp w Memory on each mode.
$100 Black Diamond Icon 700 lumens I've had headlamps: BD ICON 100 (white & red, 100 lumens, still working) NiteCore HC90 RGB (18650 rechargeable, 2-920 lumens, works well, except poorly designed USB port gasket falls off and gets lost, even tho they ship with 2 gaskets) Lumentac RGB ($25, bright 200 lumens, focusable, intensity not adjustable, rechargeable 18650, great product for money) Slonik (overpriced dual LEDs, but multiple intensity levels. The have a model 500 focusable headlamp.) This product, BD Icon 700 with Lithium battery, $155. This headlamp does most of what you need a headlamp to do. = White + RGB = Selectable intensity in each mode. = Touching the right side of the headlamp instantly jumps light intensity to full, so an annoyance or benefit. = $55 Optional 5.2 Amp battery pack. + Better head weight distribution with battery in the back than the NiteCore HC90. + a decent all purpose adjustable headstrap. + The RGB Lamps are brighter than HC90. + Each lamp mode remembers its iintensity level. + The CRI lamp is very wide beam, suitable for taking pictures or doing some fill flash at night. + Long battery life on low settings. + The 5.2 Ahr rechargable Lithium battery can be put on headstrap in back of head, or relocated to a pocket with cord extension supplied. – Light housing is made out of cheap plastic and will break after a year, and won't hold headlamp together. – Charger electronics are poor quality. Charger will not charge up and finish. But it does charge. – The additional 5.2 A battery worked fine for first few charges, then quickly declined in capacity. – Strobe is an annoyance available in each lamp mode. RECOMMENDATION How much would you pay for a headlamp that falls apart in a year due to bad plastic? The $53 5.2 A battery works OK. Might be better and more lightweight to purchase highest quality ~3A rechargeable AAs (lithium or NIMH or NiFe) that hold a proper charge and decent charger, and keep a second set of fully charged 4*AAs with you.

Shine a light on me
This headlamp attaches to your melon with an adjustable band. The light goes in the front and the battery pack in the back unless you are trying to light up where you were instead of where you are going. Sop if you dont see light in front spin it around. You can also affix the battery pack to another shoulder type strap and extend the cord. Myself, I dont do that because I will never be able to find the added strap or the extension cord after about 2 hours of ownership. If you are hyper-organized then you'll be all set and might like the added feature and you'll have a bright headlamp to find it if the spot you chose to store it in is dark. The light in fact lights up when you push the button and it is brighter then , it is brights and has different colors like red and green for when you are traveling in the dark and your buddy Joel says "hey look over here" and you look over there the light wont blind Joel. Because white light blinds you temporarily, at least it does Joel.

Best headlamps I’ve found
Black diamond headlamps are the best headlamps I’ve found. They have great battery life and the brightness is good. The rechargeable ones don’t hold up very well in the cold but the regular ones work great all year.

Wish the had one in 300 lumens at low settings that the brightness lasted 8 hrs with out dimming.
Wish it had more of a focused beam. Has a wide throw beam.

Unreliable
I purchased this headlamp to replace a 10+ year old Icon that was lost at a race. Whilst my older model was reliable and super easy to use, this newer model is honestly just crap. I purchased the light less than 10 months ago, it is now flickering on and off, dying intermittently. I run ultra races on single track and having a reliable light is a must - will not use an Icon again. Not recommending.

It just keeps getting better!
This is my 4th Icon over the past 10 years. I beat the heck out of them. I have worn this model for so long, I forget it's on my head. I use this everyday on jobsites and it is the best. The long lasting batteries and the best balance of any headlight on the market. Everytime I wear this I get a positive reaction. And have always recommended them to a lot to electricians. They see how well it works for panel work. This new model has better head strap adjustment and now multicolor LED's. Now with the included battery strap and extension cable to change battery pack to a belt mount vs head mount. Some might find this expensive but this is the right tool for a professional.

Own the Night
Another great product from Black Diamond. I have this light mounted to my type 1 helmet and it exceeds my expectations. The RGB light modes are great when you're trying to maintain your night vision and the white light modes dominate the darkness without overpowering the situation. Dimmable on all modes, RGB is bright enought to navigate (clearly see the ground) on a moonless night. I found the battery indicator functions per design when using rechargeable AA batteries (I use Goal Zero AA), but will only display 1 led when using disposable batteries. I have had this light in service during subfreezing temperatures and 3+ hour exposures to heavy rainfall/snow fall without incident. Would highly recommend to anyone needing a dependable light for when it counts.
