55mm Pro Angle Vented Metal Lens Hood Sun Shade for Leica/Contax Zeiss/Voigtlander/Panasonic Lumix/Fujifilm/Olympus/Nikon/Canon/Sony/Pentax/Samsung/RF Rangefinder Cameras with 62mm Lens Cap

(Review of 55mm thread version) Obviously this hood is designed for rangerfinders, but I bought it for my Sony A7 to have a solid metal hood that would offer protection for my daily-use vintage lens without the need for a UV filter, etc. The 62mm lens cap that comes with the hood is not that great - while in my camera bag it would sometimes fall off or even get compressed further into the hood. It also doesn't really seal up the lens due to the vents on the hood. However, I discovered that I can use my original 55mm Sony lens cap (or any 55mm center pinch cap) with this hood. Using the smaller cap that matches your thread size allows you to effectively cover your front element and protect if from dust, etc when not in use, as it places the vents on the outside of the cap. The threads on the hood are also machined very well and fit snug with my lens - much better than the threads on some other cheap plastic hoods. Overall, I'd recommend this hood as long as you can use your smaller cap with this instead of the included 62mm cap.

Seems to be well made but the size seemed off, as it didn't fit my camera.

Looks almost as good as the more expensive hoods! Gets the job done just doesn't look as fancy.

A perfect fit and very aesthetically pleasing for my Yashica Electro 35 GSN.

It is not listed how wide the lens can not be. I got the 35mm lens for my Olympus OM1, this gives VERY strong Vignetting. The corners are pitch black...

Not only does it give that vintage look, it also protects my lens.Edit: bought it twice already

Very nicely made, and comes with a cap! However, it was recommended for the 7 Artisans 50mm f/1.1. When used with that lens, it cannot be used with a filter (even an "extra slim") without vignetting.

Fits great and very fast shipping. No complaints here.
