Japanese Fruits Daifuku (Rice Cake)-Melon Flavor

These Japanese Fruits Rice Cakes are very freshness and the size is good for the value of the money you spend for getting these Japan Fruits in this package still. Sugar content is not that much to worry as it is not a very extremely high sugar content so just right for the amount per each Rice cake to have or eat still. I would not say of this product food item would be very crunchiness but more like a soft chewy rice cake melon flavor but no crunchiness at all. Highly recommended if you like Rice cake Japanese deserts like this! :)

I've read many reviews and all the bad ones seem to revolve around packaging and expiration date. These were a bit mashed but nothing too beat up when they came in but enough to be a little off-putting but then you bite into them and realize from both taste and texture they are old. After testing them I can say they are still edible and even still taste decent. The problem with this lies in that they are not marsh mellowly soft and they do not have the original flavor. 3 stars for sub par packaging, questionable expiration date, and a lack of texture along with taste.

Tasty So I really like trying foods from other countries. As a huge anime fan I lean more towards wanting to try Japanese foods in particular. A fanfiction ideas mentioned daifuku so I decided to try this. The taste is almost exactly like I thought. Not super sweet (even though it is very high in carbs) but maybe on par with a gummy bear. The melon taste is also not overwhelming. I can definitely tell it's melon though. It has a picture of a musk melon/cantaloupe but the flavor is more honeydew with a hint of the cantaloupe sweetness. I have no idea how to describe the texture. If you are sensitive to mouth feel textures this might not be for you. It's weird. Smooshy but not, sorta gummy like but not. A smooshy soft gummy? A marshmallow gummy? Idk, but it's weird and odd and I like it. There is a slight texture difference when you reach the bean paste filling but not a lot. I almost couldn't tell a difference between the two. There is a slight powder coating, I guess to prevent sticking. It is very thin an not super noticable. Less than what you would find on a Turkish Delight. Overall I would definitely recommend trying it.
