Frye boots were worn by soldiers on both sides of America's Civil War, soldiers in the Spanish-American war, and by Teddy Roosevelt and his Rough Riders. When homesteading drew adventurous New England families to the West during the mid and late 1800's many of the pioneers wore Frye Boots for the long journey. Today Frye remains true to its roots with its line of heritage boots, but continues to innovate as it introduces chic new handbags, pumps, and sandals to its collection. Frye’s mission, to make iconic leather goods that endure, has remained unchanged throughout its storied history. Awesome
As a true believer in Frye boots, I am not sure why it took me so long to buy a pair of these flats. I'm usually between a 7 and a 7 1/2, but always a 7 in Frye boots, and the 7 in these flats fit perfectly. The leather is high quality and soft, the shoes have a classic and timeless look, and they are comfortable out of the box. Like many of Frye's shoes, the soles are leather and therefore really slick. If you don't like that, you should take them in and get some rubber soles put on them before wearing them and scuffing up the bottom.

High quality all-leather flats
It's hard to find companies nowadays that make ballet flats that are leather inside and out, and so I've been buying Frye Carson flats for years. I've also purchased multiple pairs of Tieks, but after my last pair fell apart in multiple places, I don't want to take a gamble on buying those anymore and will stick with Frye.Appearance wise, these look structured while showing a bit of toe cleavage, so they look really nice with dresses and skirts. These are extremely high quality - the only problem is, the leather sole wears through. I've tried to circumvent that this time by having rubber half soles added (you can do that at a cobbler or do it yourself), so we'll see if that helps increase wear time. Otherwise the rest of the shoe holds up really nicely - I've had about 7 or 8 pairs of these over the past 5 years, and the only point of failure is the leather sole wearing through at the ball of the foot.Frye, please don't EVER stop making these flats!

Sizing off!
I didn't want to rate these poorly because the shoe is nice, but it was really big. I have another pair of these shoes by Frye, a size 9, and they fit great. Ordered these in an 8.5 because in that size and color combo the price was too good to pass up. I figured I'd squeeze in them for the good deal. But they were so big! Fit more like a 9.5. They were so loose they were falling off my heels when I walked. I wanted to keep them but they are just too big. Very strange. Also, the color is "lilac" but they are very neutral/tannish. Have to return them.

Perfect!
I have this problem with flats - they always rub against my heel and give me blisters, so I decided I wanted to get a high-end pair that would be kinder to my feet and also last a long time. I found a pair of Frye boat shoes at TJ Maxx a few weeks ago and they have been so comfortable! No blisters, they were so comfy right from the start. I've had my eyes on these shoes for quite a while but was having a hard time justifying such a large purchase. I was browsing one day and discovered they were 25% off so I went for it. I got the charcoal color, since I've got that blindingly white Irish skin, thought it would be less harsh than black. I was right! The color is perfect, not too bold but will be a great shoe for so many outfits. They are a bit tight but I expected that after reading other reviews. I know they'll loosen up a bit once I get some nice wear in them. And since the leather is so soft, I wore them right away for the entire day and not even a hint of a blister. Will buy again!

Squeaky and slippery
These are very flattering shoes with just the right-size vamp to make them cute and not frumpy. That's so hard to find! On me they just covered my toes with no toe cleavage. Unfortunately, they are very squeaky when you walk, and the soles are very slippery on carpet, so that makes them a lot less flattering. I normally wear size 8 but that was too small - you could see my big toe poking through the leather - and the size 8.5 was too large.

These don't last!
I am an avid Frye fan and loved these shoes when I initially bought them. They were both comfortable and stylish. I bought them for my wedding and avoided wearing them as much as possible until that day. After my wedding which was outdoors, they were completely ruined. Four hours in the grass turned them completely green and I have never been able to get out the stains. The shoes also completely lost their shape. You would seriously not recognize these shoes today, they look like they should cost $10. I'm so disappointed and unfortunately, since this was over a year since the purchase, I cannot return them to Frye. These shoes are completely ruined after about 30 total hours of wear (being breaking them in a few times and the day of the wedding.) If you are going to buy these shoes, do not buy the white color and do not wear them in grass. If you're okay with this and still want to pay $150, then I hope they turn out well for you!

Most comfortable shoes I've ever owned.
I bought a pair of these in the same color at a retailer in Colorado while visiting my daughter in August 2015. I generally wear a 6 1/2, but need a 7 in these. Very stiff at first like good old fashioned leather shoes should be, but once you break them in, they are the best shoes on the planet. I have a small calcification at the base of my big right toe on the instep side of my foot, which has prevented me from wearing ballet-type shoes for many years. Not a problem any more once these are broken in. I was very happy to see the excellent price here on Amazon specifically in the color I wanted - charcoal antique. They go with just about everything. I wore a hole in the sole from living in them, particularly from walking back and forth from work to my car - working on the waterfront in a tourist town with no good parking nearby, thus the need for a replacement pair. Great for earthing. Now my old ones are my perfect leather house shoes!
