This review is for the “POLICE Stun Gun 1901” purchased 9/20/2020 for $17.99. How to review this when I hope she’ll never need it? Let’s start off with... First Impression: The unit itself looks really nice. Sleek and has an appealing design to it. People comment that it’s not obvious - at first glance - that it will do what it is designed to do. Its small size does make you think it’s harmless. As shown in the images, for reference it’s about the size of a pack of cigarettes. It has this odd yet pleasant feel... like not quite plastic, but not quite rubber. The switch to activate the light (middle position) then up once again for the zapper (top position) slides with ease yet locks firmly into each position. No risk of “just a bit too much pressure” and it accidentally slides up into zap mode. The switch is depressed a bit as well so no worry about it flipping up when pulling it out of the carry case. Segue... The Case: just a flap of nylon held together by some stretchy bands. This is my only con about this purchase. I’m sure the belt loop would tear if it gets snagged on something. Not a deal breaker... just a disappointment. If it was just slightly thicker material there’d be no complaint. It’s suspect is all I’m saying so be ginger with it. The Flashlight: Makes you want to turn off the lights and just walk around in the dark... Illuminating the corners of your house... Talking about what lurks behind the shadows, but hopefully not actually seeing what does! The light is bright enough to illuminate the immediate area. Good for quick power outages and short range lighting. Definitely not a crisp tactical style beam as there’s no way to focus the light’s intensity. Would be helpful if you actually had to use this and dropped your keys or phone in the dark. Video I added may not do it justice. We purchased another stun gun that just has a red rocker On/Off switch. With no other safeguard in place? I didn’t feel right giving that one to her. Imagine her rummaging around in her purse and BZZZZZT!! No. Just no. Bad choice. Now it sits in a makeshift holster (portable battery case) in my saddlebag. Zapper: Loud enough that she jumped when she pushed the button. If you’re worried about any residual charge somehow spilling out and stunning the holder (we thought that before our first purchase)? No such thing happens with this. In the dark, the crackling sound and light show alone will hopefully make an attacker change their mind. Again, video may not do it justice. Overall, we’re happy with the purchase and would buy it again. Maybe I can find a leather cigarette case to put it in instead...

Good price, good quality, packaging was good, battery last, reliable, easy to carry

However, the battery is 200 mAh, so it does not last very long. and I'm almost scared to use the flashlight, because I had a similar thing to this and the light died because it got too hot. It's just a bare half watt or so LED with 2 wires and a lens assembly. No heat sink anywhere. It is however quite bright for it's size, and the taser module works wonders. (I use it to test discharge style lamps though, I haven't needed to use it for it's intended purpose thankfully.) I would have liked the case to be like another inch wide to be able to fit a 14500 lithium cell inside it. Those usually range about 2000 mAh, so it would have run longer. So over all, This device is a wonderful tool, but the battery is too small, and the flashlight may be unreliable, so just be careful, and have a real flashlight on hand also. I also like the battery meter, that's a wonderful addition. You don't have to guess how much energy is left. the old one I have doesn't have a meter, and it plugs into mains to charge.

I bought this for my daughter when she went to college. I bought one for me and for my sister. It emits a very loud and intimidating electrical zap that would give pause to any would-be perpetrator. It holds a nice charge too.

For 10 bucks it doesn't get better than this. Flashlight is nice and bright along with the zapper makes this a must have for your every day kit, self defense or pocket stuff.

Great teaser! It’s very lower the charge last a long time. Only need to charge it for about an hour or two to be fully charged. Would definitely buy again or for a relative. I was with my friends one night downtown and we got separated. These guys were harassing them. She pulled out the taser to deter them away from her. And when she turned it on I could hear it like two blocks away. She said the guy ran away. Lol it definitely works.

This product is a nice and compact, feels great in my hand. However, the plastic case feel cheaply made and fragile. I wouldn't want to drop it on concrete. For the price though, I wouldn't complain. If this Police model operated per the specs it might be a great option to carry for self defense. Unfortunately, the unit I received did not work out of the box (usually there is enough initial battery charge to test the product or at least turn on the flashlight). By comparison, to test out various products of comparable price, I had also purchased three additional, different models from four manufacturers and the they all worked fine out of the box prior to initial charging, two from Vipertek and a Saber model. Hmm. Sorry no pics. So I charged the Police model, as per the instructions, and tested tagaun. It still didn't work. Not even the flashlight. I suspect it is a defective battery. Notice the three separate "on" button positions in the photos. The pics were taken after charging. Bummer. I hope this isn't a typical example of Police products. To be fair, I'll give them one more opportunity to vindicate themselves. I have contacted Amazon will be returning the product in exchange for another one. I will update this review and hopefully give it a much better rating. If the new unit is also defective I will add that information to this review as well.
