No, there is not. The person who posted that there is because there's sodium lauroyl lactylate in the ingredients is wrong. The two ingredients, while looking similar, are derived from different sources. SLS is a very harsh surfactant as of where "SLL" is much gentler. They are made completely differently and are not the same thing. If you're wondering whether the previous poster is correct or if I am, do a simple Google search for each and compare the chemical compounds in their WIKI's. Hell, just ask Google point blank if the two are the same. lol The answer is NO.

Does this have any fragrance or botanicals in it?

The fragrance is understated. A mild blend of soap and coconut, sort of. A clean scent that leaves the impression it's up there doing something good. Coconut and cocoa are the only botanicals I saw. The main thing is, it does seem to thicken the hair.

It has a floral Vanilla scent to it.

Does this help with thinning at the front of hair?

I have never had a bad residue. Make sure to rinse it out. Lol. Love this and works great. I have thinning in front and it plumps up the hairs
