These have the same ingredients and in the same proportion as a different brand, and much better price. To be honest I prefer the other brand, because it's easier for me to swallow and has no taste, but I just can't afford it. These are just as good I assume. Has a bit of a taste and I'm not fond of capsules of any kind, but that's just me and it's worth it in the savings. There is a difference in color among the capsules, and someone else commented that it's due to the source of the marigolds. That's fine with me, it doesn't seem to be a quality control problem. I am on a strict budget and cost is so important. It was a relief to find these and not worry about how to afford to take care of my eyes. I am pleased with these and will continue to purchase.

I've been on this supplement, at the direction of my ophthalmologist, for just over a year. This particular provider is the only one which doesn't disguise what it is (ground up Marigolds) and actually lists all three key carotenoids and their concentrations while being the least expensive source. They don't taste like plastic either, something the synthetics have a terrible habit of doing.

When Macushield became unavailable, I switched to this, because it had meso-zeazantin, which is the active version of zeazanthin and not found in all supplements. Some people can’t metabolize regular zeazanthin so it does them no good to take it. I’m an Optometrist, so I keep updated on the research. I talk to patients about the importance of meso-zeazanthin vs zeazanthin. This product is less than half the cost of Macushield, but the taste is unpleasant and the size of the capsule is much larger. I’m getting used to it, but the larger size and unpleasant taste is off putting. I eat one of my vitamin gummies immediately after taking this to get rid of the taste.

Keeping my macular degeneration from progressing!

My optometrist recommended this type of supplement for the beginnings of Macaulay degeneration he detected. His brand at the office was almost twice as expensive. I have a history of bad reactions to meds, and was very leery, but found these instead. Been several weeks and no reactions, no bad taste, no problem. So I plan to subscribe to a regular shipment. That's huge for me.

Can not swallow anymore!! These were fine until the last bottle. They are Not capsules. but softgels. They can't be opened if you have trouble swallowing pills. They changed without warning. They say capsules on the bottle. but they are not capsules. I am out $40.

The first bottle I got of these had capsules that varied in color. I contacted the manufacturer and was assured that the capsules were safe. Color variation was due to variations in color of a natural ingredient (marigolds). However they said that since the colors should have been separated out to be consistent in each bottle, they would send me another bottle. Within 6 days I received a new bottle shipped from England. Now that is excellent customer service and will continue to purchase products from Intelligent Formula!

I just received the second bottle of these vitamins. The capsules in the first bottle had a very unpleasant odor. I had to hold my breath as I swallowed them to avoid smelling then. Also, the capsules were a light tan in color. The second bottle does not have the odor and the color of the capsules is a bit darker. I have no experience yet on their effectiveness in helping with macular degeneration but they are definitely better smelling.
