Like they all said "wish we'd done it sooner!"
I've never written a review on anything, ever. This is my first as I felt it was important to share our experience and encourage other parents. Our oldest (10) and youngest (8) sons both were still wetting every night, and despite using the cloth "pull-ups" with the disposable pad like inserts, they still soaked their PJ's and bedding every stinkin' night! The cost on the pads was $30 each month, not to mention our laundry bills. And I'm not ashamed to admit that this mama was very tired of dealing with it. So we asked our pediatrician for meds. She was reluctant due to dangerous side effects and said that it didn't cure it anyway. She had had a patient who had tried an alarm with success and encouraged us to try one. Home I came to do research. The Malem unit seemed to have the best reviews so we forked out the money for one to try with the oldest boy, honestly very doubtful it would work. The first night he soaked through 3 times. (bed and everything, but more on that later...) The first time the alarm scared him so bad he started screaming "what in the world!" over and over again. It was quite funny to the family, but obviously not to him. :) Anyway, we figured since we still had some of the pads to go in the pull ups that we'd use those over his regular undies to try to contain the mess and that worked like a charm (highly recommend this method!) That 2nd night he only wet once at around midnight but soaked the undies and pad. The next night (#3) he lasted until almost 2am and only did about a 3 inch spot in the undies and it didn't even soak through to the pad. He had enough to go in the toilet. Night #4 he did it at the same time and then woke up a few hours later to go on his own before the alarm went off. The very next night (#5) he woke up around 4am and woke up to go potty with no alarm all night! Night #6 he didn't wake up at all and no alarm. Since then he's been dry and we're over 3 weeks now with no regression. He's been drinking half a glass of water before bed to try to train his body to wake up and so far so good. A few more nights and we'll go to the every other day use and hope to be done in a couple of weeks completely! Then we'll use the alarm with the little brother. We don't think it'll be quite so easy for him, but still hope we're under the 10-12 weeks. Oh, and I should also mention that it's helped our son's self esteem quite a bit. We're going to have a special graduation type party when he's completely done. Bottom line-don't put it off! I figure it will take only 2-3 months to pay for the alarm when all is said and done in pads and water & electricity usage. Even if it didn't it would be worth triple the price in my sanity and our son's happiness alone! Update: We used this for my second son (8 years old) this past spring too and it worked for him too! It still took less than 2 months though he had a couple of accidents in the first week. We did have one issue in the second week (after he'd been dry over a week!) We had a really hot night and we don't have air conditioning. The alarm went off and I grabbed a pair of undies and met him in the bathroom. But there was no wet spot on the undies, just sweat everywhere. We figured the sweat was just enough to cause the alarm to go off. So you might want to keep the room a bit cooler if your child wets. All in all though, still a 5 star review. I've now passed the alarm on again and it worked for that friend's child as well.

A bedwetting alarm..... that's not waterproof?!!!
The alarm box isn't waterproof- go figure! My 10 year old child is a very heavy wetter at night. As in, soaking completely through two disposable nighttime pants and still wetting the bed! We need to stop this bedwetting, so I researched and found that this product seemed to fit our need and others with heavy sleepers had success ultimately, so I took a deep breath and ordered it. It wasn't cheap, and I didn't get any discounts for trying it out, either! My electrician husband took one look at it and thought I should send it back before even trying it because it looked so cheaply made. In fact, he said it looked like a toy that you could buy at the Dollar Tree for $1! I was desperate, though, and we tried it. After the 10th night (all but 1 night he wet, we got up and helped him go to the bathroom the rest of the way and change his pj's and dry blankets), it quit working. He doesn't wear a shirt to bed, so he sets the alarm on the pillow by his head. And sometimes he tosses and turns, and it ends up in the wet blankets when he sits up. I set the non-working alarm aside with the clip closed (contacts touching), and during the day it went off (presumably, it had gotten wet, shorted out, then dried out and started working again). We tried it again for another couple of nights, and it only worked intermittently. Sometimes the alarm would go off, and sometimes not. I emailed the company, and they called me. I was informed that the alarm box isn't waterproof and had been flooded and wasn't covered under warranty because of that! Even if my child had clipped this to a shirt, the sheer volume of urine is enough that it would have gotten wet at least once during this time anyway! I was told by the company that it cannot get any moisture in the alarm box at all. Quite insistently, as a matter of fact. I conveyed my severe irritation to the man from customer service and told him that honestly, I didn't do anything wrong. It simply isn't a good design for a child with heavy wetting issues. So- Malem's solution for me- he offered to issue a refund, which I accepted. He emailed me return info. Guess what? Not only do I have to pay shipping to return this item, they won't refund my card (so that I can look for another product) until they receive the original alarm. I think I'm going to take advantage of Amazon's amazing customer service instead and see if they can give me a refund sooner AND pay for my return shipping, since I wouldn't have ordered this product if I had know that it wasn't waterproof!

cheaply made but system works to end night wetting
I would give 5 stars except the battery cover never fit tight no matter how many times I tried to adjust it. In about 3 weeks time of regular use it cracked and a chunk fell out of the plastic battery cover. I didn't return it as my child was still using it and didn't to interrupt the therapy. If I'll need this for any of my other children I'll have to tape the plastic eventually. For $90 I excepted more than cheaply molded plastic. I will say in the end the alarm system worked for ending the night wetting and training my child (7yr) to wake when he needed to pee. My child needed both the sound and vibration in order to be woken: sound or vibration alone would not wake him.

Great for two weeks, then alarm would not shut off at all.
This item worked great for the first couple of weeks. Then the alarm/sensor would not turn off consistently. We did read and follow the instructions. By the third week the alarm would not shut off at all which was disturbing to our child. Imagine waking up in the middle of the night with a loud sound and not being able to shut of your device. Even with the cord removed it still continued to alarm. We finally had to take the batteries out. After we dried and cleaned sensors the alarm still would not shut off. Amazon is great and they refunded our money. Like we said earlier, the device worked great for the first couple of weeks and we had great success. We will think about it again before purchasing this device at this price point.

Works great! Wakes up my 6year old daughter immediately with the smallest tinkle. A few weeks of use and she is staying dry! The only improvement I would make is to make the switch between vibrate and alarms more obvious and easy to find. Would also like to see the price come down, but the peace of mind I now have is worth the price!
