My Life, My Food, My Kurdistan Kindle Edition

Just what I needed to cook for my kurdish husband.

Not only is it very informational, but the recipes give you the opportunity to experience a piece of Kurdistan from your own American kitchen! I've been looking for a Kurdish recipe book that is in English & uses our measurements in cups/tsp/tbsp to avoid needing to convert to metric measurements (that can also cause changes in final taste of recipe if not done precisely). I've only made it through a couple recipes so far...but I can already tell this will be a very well used book!

The book is simple, the story isn't that involved but the recipes are true Iraqi Kurdish recipes, where they are hard to find in English . Being an American with a Kurdish boyfriend, its nice to fine a book that has many of his favorite home style dishes that he misses. Overall the recipes are easy, but it does get more complicated when getting into the desserts. I would suggest that you do pay attention to your own awareness of how to cook, where the author clearly is not a professional chef and I have noticed that her ingredient list doesn't always match the steps (where an ingredient is changed), therefore I suggest being aware of what goes with what based on self knowledge. But this book does give you a great start for understanding normal Iraqi Kurdish dishes. I would buy the book again.

This is very basic. I am looking for extensive recipe collection of Kurdish foods. The dozen of different recipes of rice with a vegetable could have been listed as one recipe with variations.I do like the history of the Kurdish Tribes as a background for cooking the food of the region

My friend Chiman Zebari's book “My Life, My Food, My Kurdistan” is a great introduction to Kurdish cuisine. It is not only informative, but has many simple to make and delicious recipes as well. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves to experience delicious and different cuisine in their very own kitchen, but from the other side of the world KURDISTAN the land of the Heroes!

I have always loved Kurdish cuisine, but never had anyone to show me how to cook my favorite recipes. I bought this book and have been working my way through it. The recipes are AWESOME!!!! They are very authentic and incredibly delicious! There are so many vegetarian recipes and recipes that can be adapted to be vegetarian as well. Now I can show off for all of our Kurdish friends when they come over! Very, VERY impressed <3

I met Chiman Zebari when our sons were in school together. I felt like Chiman was sitting across from me telling me her story. I did not know all that she went through. Her story blew me away. She is an amazing woman. I highly recommend this book.
