The pellets do no dissolve or do so very slowly. The pellets could become wedged and cause damage to the inner workings of a toilet. I've been slowly trying to eliminate chemicals and intense fragrances from my life, as well as plastic waste, so I thought if it did work, it would be pretty perfect and if it didn't, it was pretty cheap. But no, it definitely actually works!!! The scent is barely there, I will say, but I don't mind that very much. My clothes feel clean, they smell clean, they're soft (but not waxy like fabric softener sometimes does), and that's about all you need your laundry soap to do. It's also an EXTREMELY cost effective laundry option, which is the most exciting part haha. I've probably done 5 or 6 loads since getting it and it's great.I will say that I do pretreat any stains, and I kind of doubt this things ability to handle any sort of staining.
