The HP 85A Black Toner Cartridge delivers excellent quality and reliability every time. The print quality is sharp and professional, and it lasts quite a while, even with frequent use. This toner cartridge works with the printer I needed it for. It prints good quality prints when I have done black and white printing. For this type of printer ink it was a good price but I find printer ink is almost always expensive. That being said a printer that is just black and white printing takes a long time to use up all the ink unlike the colored cousins. The last time I ordered this ink it lasted me well over 3 years.

Bought a pair to last me a couple of years. I don't do a lot of printing but these replacements last longer than the one that came with the printer when I bought it.

We do some basic printing, mostly shipping labels for selling online. This cartridge has lasted me 5 years, but the issue is I bought it in 2020 for $76, and now in 2025 it's $100... sure that's only ~$20 a year, but it's outrageous. I'm going to try some of the generic cartridges, which are 2 for $30 on Amazon, since I don't print anything of high quality.

I only use HP brand cartridges in my HP Laserjet P1102w printer and they consistently work well. I have had the printer for years and I have never had any toner problems. I read some of the re-manufactured reviews of blotches, uneven printing, toner spilling out etc, and I have not had ANY issues and I have used over 10 cartridges in this little printer. Yes they cost more, but I find them dependable ALL THE TIME. When I am sitting in the family room and send something to the printer from my phone, I expect it to print perfectly when I go and pick it up. I don't want to have to find that page again and print it, and I don't want to have to Print and Verify the print before I go to another webpage. the HP cartridges give me the confidence I want.

As a LaserJet toner cartridge, it is exactly as advertised. It says what it does and it does what it says. It provides deep black color and long life with many printed pages. Depending on the printer you have using this cartridge you can extend the life of the cartridge very far. I have an HP P1102w LaserJet. By changing the print settings to Economode and lowering the print density you can sip toner from the cartridge without sacrificing print quality very much except for the most demanding of source materials. I suspect that others that have purchased "this" toner cartridge and only gotten a small number of pages from it, that they may not have gotten a true HP toner cartridge. The cartridge should always come in a box with the HP holograms on it just as pictured here. I would be very suspect of one that arrived shipped to me without that. I only order this cartridge from Amazon.com. I have purchased "compatible" cartridges but none have come close to the number of pages or print quality of this cartridge. Lastly, the best part about this print cartridge is the price per page ratio compared to inkjet printers. I was so very sick of inkjet printers that take forever to start up and the precious ink dries up if you don't use it and the COST of the cartridges! I now only print in color when I MUST on my inkjet or send photos to Costco or Walgreens or Target. Everything and anything else goes through this toner cartridge. Compared to inkjet cartridges this is a steal, even for true HP product that you may think at first is an expensive one.
