Very pretty wood, and I love the almost invisible shelves for the chess pieces! I appreciated how well it was packed so that it would arrive safely, and also the included wall hanger. This was a present for my husband, who is teaching our son to play. He also intends to reenact famous chess tournaments when they're not playing a game.
