The Indespensible PathFinder/RangeFinder!
Personally, I identify this unit as a Pathfinder, and not necessarily just a Rangefinder. When traversing areas where an individual is unfamiliar with the terrain, it is extremely useful. I considered first a GPS. The issue with GPS, you have to pretty much have them operational throughout your adventure in the wild. I moved back to the magnetic compass, a terrain map and the Pathfinder for orientating myself, when in the wild. The pathfinder is on for brief periods of time and remains operational considerably longer than a handheld GPS. With small light weight, high efficiency batteries, one can remain operational for extended periods of time without the need of recharging the batteries. And when need does arise, there are foldout solar charging systems that are cost effective, and light weight, eliminating the need for terrestrially bound resources, I.E. (AC outlet). Orienteering with this combination would require me to conduct classes, and actual hands on training. When it comes to survival, my major concern has and always will be "Self Reliance". The ability to survive without assistance from external resources. Additionally, you can't be easily tracked using the combination of tools I employ, unlike GPS, which tracks your every location. Being a product of the Cold War, the Vietnam War and CA War, I had always relied on the compass, map, sun, moon and stars to locate where I was on the planet and my direction of travel in order to accomplish a mission. With the Pathfinder, taking fixes on landmarks within it's capability is indispensable. I would like to see the next gen, push the range out to 1000+ meters or more, and promote it as a reliable alternative to GPS. Another aspect that I really like is, that you can determine the straight or radial line between distant objects, indispensable feature provided you're knowledgeable in mathematics. When you're out in the wild, you should always be totally up to speed with a lot of survival techniques. This is a very important tool in one's survival toolbox.

Daylight savings
Ok I hunt at morning and late afternoon. Lot of times that means low level light back ground and shadows from tree lines are really blurred. This laser range finder doesn't work so well in those conditions. I tried this in the rain putting in my chest rain poncho pocket to keep dry. I tried this with snow falling the accuracy was about 60%. Then girdt light and sunset just as sun drops on the horizon samething. During day light it foes pretty good especially for the price. In wind if your trying to get speed good luck it was all over the place. The distance was OK if there was not a lot of vegetation in the way. Example limbs or thick blades of tall grass get in the path while trying to gaughe distance you will get two different reads

Very Much Worth The Money
I researched and researched range finder products for weeks. Not wanting to spend much over $100, I arrived at the TecTecTec Prowild Hunting range finder. After receiving this product, I immediately began testing and using this product out to about 100 yards. So far, I am very pleased. It took me a minute or two to figure out the distance measurement modes, thus the 4 rating on the "Easy to use", but after that, I was up and running. This range finder reports that it's good out to over 500 yards, but since I mostly only hunt Central Texas whitetail, I probably won't use it to measure distances much beyond 150 yards. In the mean time, I think this is money well spent considering so many so-called high end range finders are are well in excess of $300. If you're wanting to dip your toe into using a range finder without using it in extreme conditions, I recommend this range finder.

Not Accurate After One Year of Use
I purchased this last year (August 15, 2019) for the Utah archery elk hunt. It was generally within 1-2 yards of nicer range finders (swarovski) within 100 yards. When ranging an archery field point target (3’ x 4’ target) at 30 yards on flat ground in the middle of the day it each time would read 1 yard different each time I clicked (i.e. first time would read 29 yards, click again and it would read 30 yards, click again and read 31 yards, click again and read 30 yards, etc). I was okay with all of this. Then I stored it, in doors at room temperature for 10 months. Fast forward, I was making a new archery target range for the 2020 season and measured increments of 10 yards from 20 yards to 90 yards with a tape measure to make sure it was accurate. When I later tested these range finders, it was accurate within 1-2 yards up until 55 yards. At 60 yards it would consistently read 5-6 yards under so at 60 yards it read 55 yards, then at 70 yards it would read 65 yards, etc. So I ranged at 55 yards and it would read 50 yards, but at 50 yards would read 50 yards. Since most my shots are between 40 and 60 yards this isn’t going to work as that’s the difference between a dead elk or just wounding an elk that will later die and go to waste. I’m wondering if it’s the battery, so I will put a new battery in and see if that corrects the issue and update my review (UPDATE: put in a brand new Energizer CR2 Lithium battery and still the same issues). As of now, I wish I wouldn’t have been so cheap and just bought a nicer range finder. Maybe mine was a defect but I wouldn’t recommend this for archery hunting. I purchased it because of the price tag and how light it was but it needs to be more accurate for my purposes.

Light weight, accurate range reading, entry level rangefinder
So initial impression, I just got this for hunting season and tried it out yesterday. It's extremely light weight and seems well built, we'll see how it does in the woods with damp/wet. Not too sure about weather resistance. On the gun club ranges, it seemed very accurate. Measured distance was pretty much spot on to the range markers. Only thing I see being a potential Con is the display. It is not back lit. The "retical" is part of the field of view, and black. The graphics and measurements are also black. In low light or against a dark background, the readings would be impossible to read. Likewise, it only displays the distance while you are holding the button, so if you move the point of aim to a lighter object for contrast, it will change the reading. and the distance is not displayed after you release the button.Bottom line, this is a cheap, very entry level. If you are using it for range shooting, it should work great. If you're a hunter, I'd advise getting a better model.

you'll probably like it. Pros are its low cost
This rangefinder is an interesting balance between price and quality. My needs were for a cost-effective option that generally worked - if your needs are the same, you'll probably like it. Pros are its low cost, relatively light weight, and the carrying case has a quiet magnetic snap rather than velcro. Cons are it has more trouble with low-reflectivity things than other rangefinders I've used (works fine against a rock, not so fine against a dark-barked tree or shaggy elk), the case belt loop is basically useless (not tall enough for any belt I own to actually fit through) and it's really hard to tell where the laser dot is being projected. If you try to range-find through a tree (I'm talking one with leaves down, sparsely-branched, where you can very easily see through it) it's very hard to tell what you're actually ranging - the tree, or the thing beyond it. If you use it in the open against a high-brightness object like a rock, it works fine. I use it for finding ranges from a set stand to various target points, as ahead-of-time setup. I'm not sure I'd like it so much in snap situations like if you're a spot-and-stalk hunter.

This was a gift
I got this for a Christmas gift for my daughter and she seemed very excited when she saw it. She says that it works well and they enjoy using it when they go hunting.
