I have tried many reed brands, from regular Ricos and Vandorens to random no names. When I heard about this reed being a jazz reed, I was like, well, what the heck? When I opened it up, it played brilliantly. The reed was not airy or scratchy sounding at all. I use this reed now for all types of playing. The typical lifespan of one reed, used everyday, is about one month. I rotate my reeds so they last longer, and I still get that new sound whenever I play with these reeds.
