The candler on my incubator just wasn't working so i had to find something. I love that the plug in option means I don't need to go buy batteries. The two candler sizes are great. Review: Great Egg Candler - I got this to candle my button quail eggs because those suckers are dark, and the light that came on my incubator wasn’t bright enough to penetrate the shell. As soon as I held this up to the first egg I immediately saw veins. The size is geared more toward chicken eggs, but if you cup your hand around the quail eggs/ end of the light, it works out great. It’s worth it at the price, appears to be well made, and is a very light weight design.

**Q: Will this work with dark brown Black Copper Marans eggs?**
A: Worked on mine.  Needs to be very dark.  Though based on reviews I thought it would be brighter than it was. I also paired with a second candler at different angle to luminate more when needed.

**Q: Has anyone tried this with button quail eggs?  They are smaller even than coturnix quail eggs and are notoriously difficult to candle....**
A: Yes. I have. But their shell is thicker than others.
