Winsor & Newton Series 7 Kolinsky Sable Brush, Round SH #7

This was a birthday present to myself, when I saw the price I could t resist. Beautiful brush.

Brush is awesome! I've just started to draw and moved into watercolors. Brush allows you to make the delicate strokes while still being able to make broad stokes. Highly recommend this product.

It's a beautiful brush! This is my second brush from Series 7 and it's lasted me for for quite a long time now. Definitely worth the splurge.

The media could not be loaded. i recently acquired a (more or less) brand-new Series 7 brush made in 1980. this is considered to be the last decade that these brushes performed well, before the company was bought out, hair suppliers changed, and brush manufacturing was outsourced. i have been waiting a long time to see these brushes perform side by side, so that i might see the differences first hand.rather than write a long-winded review, i will let the video that i have recorded speak for itself. both brushes are 100% legitimate (the newer one having been purchased directly from Winsor & Newton) and they are both Size 7.(a note, because many people seem to not be aware — when Kolinsky-Grade, or Red Sable brushes are dry, their bristles poof and splay outward, unlike synthetic brushes which remain sleek and pointed, either dry or wet. this is not a defect, a mark of a “failing” brush, or damage. this is completely normal. if only when the tuft is wet, and the brush not return to a fine point should you consider your brush to be defective.)for those of you looking for alternatives to the current Series 7, here are a few of my favourites:- da Vinci Maestro Series 11- Raphaël 8404- Royal Talens Rembrandt Series 100- Kalish Series 7 Designer Round- Silver Brush Co. Winsor Newton Series 7 brushes are usually of excellent quality.The size 5 and size 7 that I received were not.When wet, the hairs splayed out and would not hold a point. I was VERY disappointed with my purchase and had to return them.
