Best portable yet and I am cool!
This my third (in 10 years) portable air conditioner: Whynter (got 5 years life), Honeywell (on 4th year but sounds a bit like failure might be imminent). I have had very good experiences with other DeLonghi products so purchased this unit.My situation: 1100 square foot home kind of chopped up into small rooms but an open "sunroom" that is my home office - I work full time from the home office.I am in Northwest Montana and while not as arid as the southwest, humidity is typically in the mid-teens to mid-twenties, i.e. not much - actually perfect for comfort as far as I'm concerned.I like my house 65-68F year round. I have a northern breed dog who would probably like it 55F or less. Even my Norwegian Forest cat prefers cool.I have typically done well with 1 A/C unit and a couple of helper fans plus it usually cools into the 50's overnight so I can turn off everything midnight-1a.m.All of my windows are horizontal sliders. This unit - it arrived at 6:34 p.m. and by 7:12 p.m. it was running and that includes 10 minutes of huffing/puffing/swearing at the hose hookup which didn't want to stay hooked up. I eventually won. This is not better or worse than any other unit I've had - the darn connectors do not really "screw" on. A wee bit of strategically placed duct tape does wonders, though! The bedroom was 74 to start. Outside temperature was 93. It took an hour to cool down to 70 per a thermometer unit but I thought it felt quite comfortable in 30 minutes ... not THAT uncomfortable to start but cool moving air made a huge difference fast. I slept fine with the noise - fan on low but I'm used to the A/C-fan noise.re noise - this is definitely the quietest of any of the portables.Today, which is forecast to hit 96F and started at 61F, I moved the new unit to my living room which opens to my bedroom. Honeywell went to sunroom office. It is currently 85 outside and 65 inside. I have both units set to 65. The DeLonghi is keeping both living room and attached bedroom at 65 with no helper fan.Ultimately, even though short experience, I am so happy that I ordered a 2nd DeLonghi as we are to be in 90's for the foreseeable future. I think these are reasonably priced units and if I get 4-5 years ($100 or less per year) out of them, I am happy.***wishlist slightly longer hose, slightly longer power cord, better way to connect hose

Cools really well and low cost to run
I live in Olympia, WA and bought this air conditioner for my bedroom 3 years ago. I have large bedroom with cathedral ceilings, so I worried a little about how many cubic feet it actually is, but this has worked perfectly for me, even on days when temps were close to 100 and the humidity is over 90%. I have personally found that just running the dehumidifier keeps me cool enough to be happy most of the time. I have also used the AC function and liked that as well, but eventually became too cold using it. I got this because the windows in the apartment where I live are the type that slide open sideways and don't open super wide, so I wasn't sure if a window unit would fit. I also like that I can easily take this out of the window and just keep the window open for a few days and then use it as needed by simply putting the hose/panel back in the window when I need it. I have used this for 3 summers now and even running it every day in a month for all or part of the day my electric bill has never gone up by more than around $10/month over what it normally is. I don't think it's the quietest machine out there, but after the first night, I get used to it and it just becomes white noise to me. I originally worried about draining it and kept checking all the time, but no water ever came out when I checked. I still check it about once a month since the humidity levels get over 90% here, but I still have not had any water come out any time I have checked. I also like this in the Spring because I have pretty bad allergies and this allows me to sleep without constantly coughing, sneezing, and wheezing for air. I have not noticed any reduction in efficiency over the last 3 years, nor any increase in noise. I would buy this again for the size room I have, but I would recommend a unit with more BTUs if you are using it in a larger area. I tried using this out in my living room/dining room which is all open to the kitchen too and although it helped, it did not cool down that much larger area.

Does what it supossed to do...
Purchased this unit as my Central A/C's Evaporator started leaking and the part was on B.O. for 2 weeks. Needed something to cool the bedroom and also allow me to use it elsewhere once the A/C was fixed (garage/Florida Room)Pros:PortableEasy of OperationEase of installationReal Feel option is a bomb - the A/C will turn off once the room becomes at optimum comfort levelEven at full fan it is quiet enough to not disturb your sleep (white noise) or having a nice normal conversation - once the whisper mode is selected, it is quieter than my CPAP machine.Cool down a 200sq ft room to 75 degrees in less than an hourConsPricey for a 12,000btu unit (I guess quietness play a factor in the price)BulkyNo complaints about my purchase.
