Resqme 05.100.02.07.09 Car Escape Tool, Multicolor, 3 Resqme

In view of recent tragic accidents, decided to get one of these to keep in the car. Lightweight and easy to hold. Could be a cheap lifesaver. I've zip tied it to the gear stick so that it's easily accessible in an emergency. Not yet needed to use it (fortunately) but it looks simple and effective from the various videos I've viewed.

Genuine item and they appear very good - glad to have one just in case.

I bought these for my daughter and partner, not just in case of an accident but rather to help them escape if ever in the back of a 'dodgy' taxi...😉

OK, it may deserve 5 stars but who is going to test theirs by smashing a window or slicing a seat belt unless you live near a scrapyard. I've seen YT videos that do just that though, and it seems to outperform inferior knockoffs quite easily (the embossed logo and very specific shape are proof it's a kosher ResQme). Seemed to slice through even racing seat belts, despite these being much thicker due to the added strain they take, and makes short work of tempered glass even underwater (unlike hammers), being spring-loaded. I tested its slicing power on cardboard - fine, and the steel tip on the same. Fine too. It resets itself with each click, being multi-use, and leaves a visible indentation. But it's worth noting that it's designed to shatter tempered glass only. Which rules out laminated windscreens (mandatory in all vehicles). And the laminated front side windows of newer cars. Even new cars should have tempered rear side windows though, possibly even back windows. But check first which of yours are (should be labelled. If not, tempered glass is a single sheet, laminated is sandwiched sheets with a plastic filler in between). Knowing which is which in your vehicle could save vital seconds if you're submerged or trapped in something liable to explode. Older cars have tempered front and rear side windows. Newer cars' front side ones were laminated to prevent driver/passenger ejection in a crash or flip. It's worth noting too that the cutting blade is best used at a 45 degree angle on the belt and the steel tip used on window corner/s, not centres. Also that the tool will break into cars too if overheating children or dogs need rescuing. Check out YT videos of panicking mothers. Overall an ingenious little gadget that has sold milions in its country of invention, the clever old US of A. So says an impressed Brit.👍

Well made and compact, cutter very sharp and glass breaker looks to work well but I not break any glass with it

Look at the demos of these great little tools on YouTube, they’re absolutely magnificent, and vital if you or anyone else is ever trapped in a vehicle. The string loaded window breaker will shatter door glass quite easily, and the seat belt cutter will go through the thickest of belts like butter. I always carry two - one with my car keys, and another attached to my belt. Highly recommended, another thing I never leave home without.

Recommended kit on a training course when dealing with road traffic accidents. Combi pack is good value although do not come boxed , just sealed in thick plastic. Am giving these as gifts although hope never to have to use one!
