I like it better than the ones from the other main brand starting with an " o" . The main feature I was looking for was an extra pocket in the front that would accommodate another or ideally several more water bottles. I gave up on having my kids carry their own backpacks or water bottle holders as I am the one who ends up carrying them. So it's easier to just take one backpack and store all water bottles in my bag. This backpack can easily fit two more water bottles in the large front compartment for a total of four water bottles in outside pockets. That front pocket is open on top and provides easy access but yet not so much that bottles could fall out. If anything should leak, it also stays on the outside of the bag and doesn't soak jackets, or sweaters etc. on the inside. Granted when I wore it on the ski slopes yesterday and wiped out, two of three water bottles fell out, only one stayed put but that was an extreme test.I loaded it up and compared how it felt with the weight of four water bottles: very comfortable and better than its competitors.There is one thing is missing/ could be improved: Deuter, please add a second small compartment somewhere on the front of the pack. That would make it so much better. To have two pockets for valuables, cell phone, small snacks etc. so that I don't want to have to hunt for anything small in the main big compartment. Or add an internal zipper pocket, maybe above the water sleeve pocket. That plus compression straps to hold in the water bottles on the side, just to be safe.The only other small downside is the weight. This backpack weighs in at over 2 lbs but you get an air circulating frame for that. I love the colors and quality of the bag and the fact that there is a rain cover. Maybe a brighter color for a rain cover would make the bag even safer (bright yellow like on some other deuter bags I saw) along with a few more reflective stripes.The price is also a major plus.
