Avalon Organics Hand & Body Lotion, Nourishing Lavender, 32 Oz

This lotion is thick and creamy and has a very natural lavender scent, straight from real lavender fields. It is calming and therapeutic. The price is also a great deal for the amount and quality you’re getting. I totally recommend it!

This is an awesome lotion with a true lavender-sage scent. I love it.

Before getting to the positives: for the first time ever, in 4+ years of ordering this product, the bottle arrived open within the safety cling-wrap packaging and lotion smeared around. I won't be using this bottle as it was most likely opened. Disappointed in the packaging and handling, not the product itself. As the title of the review says, I've been using this lotion for over 10 years -- probably closer to 15, actually, since I first got this when it was still being repackaged and sold by Trader Joe's. When they discontinued it in 2020 I was heartbroken, and some searching led me to the original Avalon Organics product. I love lavender-scented things, and this lotion stands out for actually smelling like actual lavender. More than that, though, this lotion formulation is the ONLY hand/body lotion I have ever found that doesn't leave any kind of "residue" feeling for me -- and I have tried so, so, SO many alternatives. It moisturizes my skin and leaves it soft, but it's not heavy or greasy; it sinks in quickly without feeling like it's not doing anything. Absolutely the best lotion I've ever used, I'm so glad I grabbed the $4.99 bottle on a whim at TJ's back in 2010 or 2011 or whenever it was. If this is ever discontinued I'm going to be absolutely inconsolable.

Nice body lotion with clean ingredients, nice smell. A little too thick for my liking, does not spread very easily

I've tried a lot of products from Avalon Organics through the years. I remember their Lavender body wash and lotion were some of my favorites. I bought the smaller lotion size at my local Sprouts and finished it within a week. The scent was so much better than I remembered and I was constantly using it. It honestly smells like if you crush dry Lavender buds in your hand. The scent that it releases is a deep and pure Lavender which I feel the lotion really captures. It's a powerful scent, some may like it, some may hate it. I feel like I smell notes of Lemon, but it's mostly just Lavender. I wasn't able to go back to the store so soon, so Amazon was my next choice. I got a bigger body lotion and a body wash. I'm extremely disappointed by the lotion this time. It smelled incredibly MUSTY. It smelled as if they left it under the sink for weeks and the natural odor of the pipes went into the bottle. I've done that unintentionally at my own home with linen sprays so trust me when I say I know how it happens/smells. The body wash smelled better, but not as intense as the lotion which was just disappointing. Maybe I just got a bad batch but I recommend getting it locally if you can. I'd give it 1 star for the bottle itself, but I won't let the condition of it influence my rating. It's easily a 5 star product. The scent is very pure, and the ingredients are really good. I especially love that it has Aloe leaf juice and Shea butter. I can really feel it when I use the lotion/body wash, especially on my dry hands.

This is my favorite body lotion! It's not thick and sticky like many store brands. It goes on smoothly and smells delish. You don't need tons (when using pump) because it spreads on skin easily. I recommend trying this lotion.

EDIT: My review of the product is still correct. However, I'd like to add a note about Avalon Organics. I sent an email to them via their website, telling them of the odd, rancid smell. Avalon coupons covering the full cost of the product arrived shortly after in the mail, along with a letter of apology! Very impressed and grateful for their response. Original review: The lotion itself is quite nice, feels good, moisturizes (though takes a minute to soak in), but it smells a little rancid/old. And the lavender smells medicine-y. I normally love lavender. I actually sent an email to Avalon, but received no reply (but now I have -- see edit.) Also, like others mentioned, some lotion squirted out during shipment, but it was just a little and didn't crack the pump so not the end of the world. The 3 stars I'm giving is not owing to that, but rather to the icky smell. I mean, it's not so terrible that I'm not using it. But I don't love it and will be glad when it is gone.
